Took a week off work. Haven’t had a proper break in over a year after losing my job last December, and the new place has a “no vacation for the first 6 months” policy. I forgot how good turning off my work profile feels.
Granted, next week all those piled up emails will need to be handled, but that’s a problem for the future me. Screw that guy.
I’ve been enjoying the last glimpses of summer with my friends. Really good weather to hang around in parks. I haven’t done anything really technical, apart from gamepad modding. And Sopuli is doing fine, one less thing to worry about.
Tired, sore, and dealing with some new and unexpected stressors. It looks like they’ll pass soon enough though and I’m grateful for that.
I plan on making a wooden D12 ! I already sketched it and hopefully soon we can roll that die 🍀

Bittersweet. I just came off 10 weeks of parental leave today and while I like what I do, a large part of me just wants to stay at home all the time with these adorable knuckleheads. It’s tough balancing out what’s important in life (them) vs. what keeps a roof over our heads and I am grateful to have a job that has always understood and respected those priorities.
Otherwise, the mental plate is FULL. Wife’s got some major health stuff we’re working through, potty training, and an AuDHD diagnosis for one of the kids. Just a lot happening and we need it to quiet down juuuuust a bit.
The days are long and the years are short. Savor it, my friend. It doesn’t slow down either. I’m happy you have an employer that understands that life happens and that it needn’t be conducted in spite of your work.
Not horrible! So I have been interested in HRT for a while and talked to my therapist about it. I kinda know a path forward with my doctor, which seems doable… I think? In silly news, got my Zip 100 drive working on Kubuntu 26.04 and Windows 11, which makes me happy, along with my M-Audio Ozonic through my Firewire card. I’ve been cleaning up my home on my therapist’s requests, so that’s good! Trying to take daily walks around some local parks. Friends want to play Magic the Gathering Commander, so I got some cards for that. Possibly going to a D&D Meetup group this Saturday! Things are already much better. Thanks all for listening last week.
Also, should note, I have never played Commander? I’ve got a ton of junk cards from my high school days long ago, so I’ll try to make them work. My friend just bought a new house so we have a cool place to hang out. Also he has a Tappan microwave from the 1970s he’ll give me if it works! It’ll be huge and really be terrible compared to even mine but it would be so neat to try to integrate into my life if it’s at least functional (and, of course, safe).
Better now that the site is up and running. Hope it stays - my week is already improving!
