Trump wants to relabel New Mexico as New America days after changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake Ameria

Donald Trump has already changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, and now he’s targeting a US state for a rebrand.

Trump is spending the holiday weekend dreaming up his next demand to relabel America’s geography. He posted a map on Truth Social Sunday afternoon of New Mexico, but the word Mexico was crossed out and replaced with America.

Relabeling the southwestern state on the U.S.-Mexico border as New America is reminiscent of an executive order he signed early in his second term, in which he changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

Just want to remind everyone that everything the US ever had is stolen, including the term “America”. The whole fucking continent is named America you stupid fuck, who said you can use it for your country? Everyone in North, South and Central America is American.

I will defend the naming of United States of America simply because it was the first country to break away from the European powers, the abbreviation of America was simply inevitable given how it took another generation for the Haitians and Mexicans to break free. Also there was a lot of early ambitions that the US would’ve been closer to the modern EU and would’ve expanded far further across the continent. Obviously that didn’t and won’t happen but yeah.

Haitian where literal slaves who broke free, while the US didn’t abolish slavery until 1860s (on paper). Not much lessons of freedom to give here.

And how do you call people who lives on the continent if the US citizens are the real Americans? Nobodys? USA’s bitches? Should the Germans be entitled to called themselves European because they did whatever first? Do the Chinese have the rights on Asia because they are the most populous?

This is just more example of US arrogance.

BTW the name comes from the guy mapped south America. Maybe they should be the only Americans.

The failures and successes of the revolution are kinda irrelevant as to who broke away from the European powers first, Haiti and Mexico came second and third. The politics outside of that have no bearing on the naming convention therein. It really does just come down to dibs at that point.

Personally I don’t like identifying people by continent since it’s clunky and stupid, similarly I’d rather not label people based on the political entity they live under. Region, ethnicity, culture, and religion is all fine in my opinion since those all have characteristics that can be identified rather than whatever shit stained flag happens to be flying at any time. For example I am a Californian and more specifically an Inland Imperial, but I will rarely if ever identify with the US outside of entirely practical reasons since quite frankly I want to see the USA reduced to the same category as the HRE that is to say dead.

Oh I entirely agree on the naming thing, it’s fucken stupid. There’s a Victoria 2 mod called Divergence of Darkness that does that, South America is called Ameriga (America) while I believe North America is called Arcadia or some shit can’t remember. Personally I wish a convention could be done by the various North American states to find a better fucken name, personally I’m a fan of Appalachia-Laruntine, or however you spell that second word because I’m lazy.

Yeah, Haitians should have just not be slaves to begin with. The USA is the only land of the free, the first free people of the world. There’s the Americans and the rest of the world, and your president gets to decide what it’s called.

I said nothing of the sort you gishgalloping pissrag. My point is purely down to time frame, the Haitians and Mexicans had simply not won their independence from the European powers when the US claimed its name, nothing more nothing less.

Probably didn’t help that there was and arguably is no proper name for the Eastern coast of the US even now let alone back then. Sure some sub-regions have terms but there’s no proper noun for them to latch onto for naming convention so they simply went with the only thing they had in common, the fucken continent.

But I digress. I can tell you want to fight about this or that and bitch about American exceptionallism but you ain’t gonna find it with me. My ancestors were fucked by the feds and I’m fucked by the feds, I wish for nothing more than the destroy this rotting empire I have had the misfortune of being born under. To see it’s rivers bled scarlet, it’s fields salted, and it’s capitol with a big ol’ mushroom cloud above it a genocide in all but ethnicity, culture, or religion. Now how’s bout you find an actual target for your pissfit rather than a hick who thinks your reasoning is shit.

Easy. In English, if someone lives in the United States, they’re American. If someone lives in North America, they’re North American; if they live in South America they’re South American. Even better, you could use the demonym for the country they’re from, i.e. Argentinian, Guatemala, Canadian, etc.

Edit: I think the confusion comes from different culture’s viewpoints on the number of continents. In the Anglophone world, there is no continent called “America,” there are two continents called North and South America.

Later, loser. Thanks for making me type in the Fr*nch “language.”

Alright, I came in with a good faith answer about how the English language is used, and you started absolutely shitting your pants en Français, so apparently you’re not interested in any sort of discourse, you came here to argue, so let’s fucking go.

The balls you have to have to call me a “colonizer” is fucking insane. Are you fucking kidding me? You’re literally French, look in the goddamn mirror. Remember those Haitians you were talking about, the ones that liberates themselves? Liberated themselves from who, motherfucker? Dit bonjour aux esclavagistes pour moi.

I don’t know why you’ve immediately perceived me as an enemy, I hate the orange fuck more than you do. Sure, American foreign policy may have an effect on you, but it’s nothing like American domestic policy. I have to deal with my tax dollars being spent on bullshit wars. I have to deal with grocery prices nearly doubling in a matter of 2 years due to dumbfuck tariffs. ICE is shooting people in the street, and the military is bombing schools overseas.

I am not your enemy, I do what I can to resist the regime, but I have to survive. There are few good choices here. I cannot throw my life away to accomplish nothing. Far-right extremism is on the rise across the Western world; I hope you remember how you treated us when Le Pen wins and you’re trying to fight the good fight.

Lol, I speak french so I have to be from France, of course. Bravo. Gosh people like you have such a narrow understanding of the world, Why don’t you guys just focus on not being a threat to the survival of humanity and not giving the nuclear code to a pedo-fascist for a start? Then we can have discussion on your entitlement to rename ocean and appropriate historical elements. And I’m sure your mid-terms will be another great lesson of democracy, in the land of the free.
