I thought this was for a newer Scream movie and was about to argue that anyone who thought the Fonz overshadowed Winkler’s dramatic chops clearly hadn’t watched Barry.

This is for the 1996 poster, so Happy Days would have been much fresher in people’s minds and he hadn’t had as much opportunity to act in more serious roles. Always sucks to see a great actor pigeonholed, but I get what the studio was concerned about.

I had to confirm that with the French Wikipedia and you’re right for the French version: Happy Days was shown in 1976, 1986, 1987, 1993, 1996, 1998, and (last but not least) 2007 up to 2010 on smaller channels.

I don’t know what we have with Happy Days in France, but it was a success.

Barry is such a damn good show. The acting scenes where they fumble and then snap into character for a performance really show how good they are. I don’t think I’ve seen a better portrayal of acting to act.

Didn’t the Scream villain become the goofy sidekick character of Shaggy not long after this.

      I haven’t seen either in 20 years, so…

Edit: Scream is thirty years old, fuck
