i think !yptb community fit that idea.

    Honnestly, no. Rimu sumed up.

I prefer staying always from people. We have already a difficult job to do that exposes us to public and can quickly evolve to harrassement with death threat if we don’t thread it with care. It’s exausting. Whatever we were right or not.

So you can comment or vote in your space. We have our too.

And, lastly, i forgot. being popular ? I don’t do it for popularity, i do it for creating a safe space for everyone.

Haha that’d just add another layer of drama. Like a fractal. How about turn the modlog into a community so people can vote AND comment on each action? Then modlog on the modlog. Yo dawg, I heard you like modlogs.jpg

I can’t wait to be banned from an instance for downvoting the moderation choices that instance makes. Think of the brigading opportunities. All the new and fun ways to make a thankless job even more miserable.

and then you’ll get banned for BS reason like * Vote manipulation* or Sock puppet account just because you hurt some mod feelings by down voting without commenting

I like it. Make a community and a script to post what happened to that new community when actions take place.

I think you’re misunderstanding the mentality of the kind of sick twisted person who is willing to do the work of moderating a fediverse instance.

They’re not in it because they care about being popular.

We sorta have those. Though admins are the only ones allowed to vote and it is binary remove vs. retain the mod 😜.

On a more serious note, this sounds like something vulnerable to vote manipulation. Then again, so too is democracy I suppose, so that’s not a firm reason not to?

Good point, I conceded too early. The practical challenges seem too overwhelming.

Like even if you restricted voting to purely accounts that are over a year old, the ones trying to subvert the system could still find ways through.

Though it would force them to up their game significantly, and most likely make the trouble not worth the effort.

If someone removes a comment the community could upvote or downvote the action and let the mod know if they action was popular with the community or not.

I think it could be healthy feedback.

I think that “vote manipulation” comment was insinuating that people could do things like using a horde of alts to influence a mod and convince them that removing that comment was a bad move. One user could hypothetically make it seem like much of the community disliked a mod action when in reality it is just that one user maliciously protesting.
