It’s amazing how impatient drivers are. What’s even more crazy, is that driving really fast, even to pass somebody, usually only saves you less than a minute of time. For what? So you can doom scroll even longer? If you really want time to doom scroll, ride public transit.

I drive a lot for work, and that stuff drives me crazy. Most people seemingly can’t really drive or juat don’t care, because they relay on other people to look out for them. The amount of people who juat blatantly look at their phones while driving is staggering.

Fine the driver the full cost of repairs plus 10% and allow train passengers to sienfir damages of this made them late to something important.

Or just actually make a civilized society and ban cars as personal transportation.

You can’t fix stupid. I live in south Florida near the deadliest stretch of railway in the country. There are crossing arms, bells, and lights at every intersection that I have on multiple occasions watched drivers ignore and drive around. I saw one very, very near miss and the aftermaths of several not-so misses. The Brightline that was originally supposed to average about 70mph (115k/h) now operates at 40 (65 k/h)

Charitably, it may be a signal fault.

The real problem is how many people are inconvenienced by one car, when a train is in a collision.

that’s why, if i were elected supreme dictator of earth, one of my first decrees would be that drivers have to reimburse the passengers for their delay and pay for any damages on the transport vehicle/infrastructure.
Also: 5 repeats of this and you lose your license permanently, and the state will punish you further by giving you a 5-year free public transport pass for the entire country. Oh how i love being evil.

5 incidents is too generous. If you hit a tram twice at fault, it’s done.

Same for people driving without lights at night (maybe the 5 applies here)

I bet this person was looking at their phone and didn’t even think about looking for the train. That’s what I’m seeing for most accidents like this these days.
