Interesting thought, there are some crypto platforms like kraken that require a waiting period before a new device can make big changes to an account. Those things might be a bit annoying now that we are used to most things being instant, but the alternative far worse

What even is this? The author is scared of crypto so they want to slow computers down? What editor allowed this to be published ?

Edit: the author’s other articles are also mostly anti-tech alarmist bs

It doesn’t have to be related to crypto. The point is that we have some technologies that are meant to make things more convenient, but in a lot of cases too much convenience is a bad thing.

Example: “tap-to-pay” credit or debit cards based on NFC are incredibly easy to be skimmed. You can go with a POS terminal to a really crowded area, and activate a transaction just by walking really close to people.

They do, actually. Some people seriously need to touch grass. Most stuff in life, in particular digital stuff, is not urgent.

What is happening with Lemmy recently? Is the winter affecting everyone’s mood? Are you okay?
