Jordan Peterson, who has gained international fame for his bestselling self-help books and lectures

False. He did not gain any fame or notoriety until he threw a hissy fit about “compelled speech” when UofT asked him to use people’s preferred pronouns, and became the darling of the right wing talking heads.

Iirc his original claim to fame was speaking out about “compelled speech” against bill C-16, which extended human rights minority protections to trans people.

The fact that media referred to him as an “intellectual” instead of an “anti-trans activist” has always been wrong, because being an anti-trans activist is what made him famous.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Last November, Peterson, a professor emeritus with the University of Toronto psychology department who is also an author and media commentator, was ordered by the College of Psychologists of Ontario to undergo a coaching program on professionalism in public statements.

The college’s complaints committee concluded his controversial public statements could amount to professional misconduct and ordered Peterson to pay for a media coaching program — noting failure to comply could mean the loss of his licence to practice psychology in the province.

Three Ontario Divisional Court judges unanimously dismissed Peterson’s application, ruling that the college’s decision falls within its mandate to regulate the profession in the public interest and does not affect his freedom of expression.

It featured interveners including the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and LGBTQ+ advocacy group Egale Canada, which said in a statement from Executive Director Helen Kennedy that communities her organization represents often face discrimination and barriers when accessing healthcare.

“Today’s ruling that as a professional regulatory body, the College of Psychologists of Ontario has the mandate to regulate degrading and demeaning speech by its members, is a step in the right direction in ensuring that 2SLGBTQI individuals can access healthcare safely and without discrimination,” Kennedy wrote.

“The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is pleased with the court’s decision confirming that members of regulated health professions are expected to maintain high standards of conduct, which at times may result in some curtailment of their freedom of expression,” she said in a statement on Wednesday.

In case you’re outside the loop on this one the people who hate this guy can NEVER form a valid argument as to what he has done in any way to hurt… anyone really. He just doesn’t like playing into people’s sexual fantasies. Not a big deal.

On the other hand people on his side tend to be conservatives and white supremacists. Mostly because nobody else is willing to stand up to LGBTQ bullies nowadays.

It’s an unfortunate situation, Jordan Peterson is a normal human being who gets constantly attacked by guys who think they’re women, and women who are very sad they have titties, and then gets celebrated by people with no teeth and swastika neck tattoos. It’s like the fucking creatures of the night just love this guy. And again, listen to his speeches, he’s just not into the whole calling a man a woman thing. Not a hot take, but has made him amazingly controversial lol.

The article literally explains what he did to deserve this. If you cannot figure out how he has hurt people that is due to your failings not because it is not happening.

I read the article and it doesn’t go into details on what he had done. Is It about that tweet that he says that a New York Post model is not beautiful?

Yeah, I think I’ll take any thing Benzo Lobester sex hierarchy man says with a whopping grain of salt after he admitted to want to fuck his grandma in a media interview.

Here’s what I don’t like about him: he’s dishonest. The man is a psychologist. He’s an expert in only one field: psychology. Yet he pontificates on any subject he pleases, trying to pass for some sort of generalized expert. He isn’t as smart as he wants you to think he is, and he’s certainly not an expert in sociology, economics, medicine, or any of the other things he likes to venture his unlearned opinion on.
Pseudoscientific woo dressed up in flowery language. Intellectually dishonest. Self serving egomaniac. Get in the sea, Peterson.

Thank you! This is why I am NOT a fan of his, yea. He was really put on the map by his Joe Rogan interviews. I watched them all, and even some of his lectures. I was VERY curious about all the hate. Jordan B is definitely a tool. At one point Joe asks him something like “how can we fix society” or “what would make a utopia” and instead of saying, “who knows” he actually answered! His response was word salad, riddled with buzzwords and intellectual babel. He pulled a politician card. Said a whole lot of nothing in a very pretty way. Since then I’ve realized he’s just a harmless fool. He’s riding this thing out. He KNOWS he really isn’t as amazing as his fans believe, but it doesn’t matter. He’s so much smarter than the people who love him and the people that hate him that all he has to do is keep talking. Keep it vague. So long as he stays a hated public figure of the left he will remain a celebrity to the right. Such a funny oroborus of stupidity. It thoroughly intrigues me.

Well no fucking wonder you don’t have a problem with him considering you also seem to be transphobic. Jesus fucking Christ.

I also don’t understand this guy’s mindset of Peterson just talking nonsense so therefore he’s harmless?? His nonsense is what makes him harmful! COVID conspiracy theorists were all talking nonsense too but it had some very real, very harmful consequences such as injesting bleach or horse dewormer which just led to more unnecessary deaths in some way.

Same reason I hate Joe “I’m just asking questions” Rogan. Bullshit said in an authoritative manner makes people believe it which just perpetuates awful stereotypes and bigotry.
