It absolutely helps their goals well beyond pleasing their voter base. Census data is used to determine the distribution of House seats and the distribution of resources to communities. This will influence the actions not just of government agencies, but non-profits as well. It’s considered the most authoritative source on the US population.

This is supposed to be the first census with the newly revised race/ethnicity question, which would count Middle Eastern/North African (MENA) as it’s own category (until this point they are instructed to report themselves as “white”), and removes the “multiracial” category in favor of a “check all that apply” approach.
These are measures that are sure to reveal the White population to be smaller than previously thought, and also to bring attention to the fact that Americans are increasingly growing their families beyond the color line. Of course they don’t want us to see that.

I just want to be unfettered.

Are they scamming the rich to help the poor? I don’t have any sympathy for rich people falling victim to scams, but I wouldn’t throw a parade for someone who just did something selfish.

This country hates its children. And all vulnerable people. We continually treat them as disposable, exploitable resources instead of people deserving of protection and care.
Today’s kids regularly have to rehearse finding cover from a hail of bullets at school, try to prepare themselves for an unlivable ecology, and wonder if any random picture of them will instantly be turned into porn via the new basis of our country’s economy. Capitalism is going great.
It’s only 49‰? Color me surprised.
