The Wizards were down two and Gilbert Arenas got fouled on a game-tying shot at the buzzer. Don Nelson then got a tech for arguing the call, and Arenas hit all three FTs for the walk-off win.

Having every round other than the finals be a regular season game raises the floor on the tournament (so teams aren’t treating it like a preseason exhibition), but lowers the ceiling. There’s nothing unique going on other than different court designs, it’s just games that they would have played anyways.
First you order the players based on how much you like them, then you figure out what criteria is needed to make those rankings work. That’s how these discussions go.
