I think the reason that quote has any validity is because we in the watch community are in a huge bubble, and 99% of the population has no idea what a GS watch is. A shiny bracelet and Rolex logo will “impress” most people who are not into watches.
In the enthusiast community, I agree we can debate the merits of GS vs Rolex and appreciate both brands equally.

Fair warning I’ve never handled one of these but I think you go with the 43mm with your larger wrist size. If that size was built for anyone, it’s you. Of course if you’re trying to go for a more dainty look there’s nothing wrong with the small one. But if you like the mako, you’ll probably be okay with the 43mm Certina
