Kinda see this trait in zidane as well. When you’ve had unbelievable historic success in your first coaching job everything else is bound to pale in comparison and the more you spend time you spend in management the more your reputation will get chipped away. I can understand the fear that would slowly creep in.
This mild take is honestly lacking. Everything is either black and white with no nuance. Messi is a deserving winner. Halaand would have been a deserving winner. Mbappe would have been surprising but would have been a deserving winner. Each of them did get voted as best player by some, but not by others.
Every other year you’d be as well calling it the award for best player in the team that won the champions league
Arteta should have backed 1 keeper and gone on from there. He’s created this scenario where every keeper mistake will be over analysed by the media and creates uncertainty and extra pressure on the keepers.
If he stays with Raya every mistake will continue to be magnified. If he starts playing Ramsdale he’ll come under the same pressure.
The only thing he can do is release a statement saying “I had mentioned alternating keepers, but I feel Raya has shown enough to be named number 1 keeper. Mistakes can happens we need to back him etc.”
Feel like Son is one of those players where every goal is a jollification.
That sub is nuts. Literally sitting down drinking a cup of coffee and watching people get slaughtered.
Messi and Ronaldo broke the trend by consistently scoring a goal a game. Now everyone is at it.
Back in the 90s if a striker got a goal every 2 games they’d be heavily praised.
