  • Thanks for experimenting with this.

The Mastodon integration is under active development at the moment - there will be a major release bringing lots of improvements in the next few days. So far there’s nothing new that addresses cross-posting but I’m sure it will need attention soon.

It’s probably going to be a bit janky because Lemmy and PieFed share posts using markdown whereas Mastodon only gives us HTML. So unless I think of something better we’ll be converting their HTML into Markdown, which is going to be very messy.

  • I don’t know of any other IDE maker that has the depth and quality of language support that JetBrains offers.

Honestly, throwing your toys over a modal commit dialog seems a bit misguided when switching to any other IDE is going to involve coping with much bigger changes.

You have the option of using an old version if the newer ones aren’t to your style. I’m still on the 2023 version of PyCharm, for instance. And the 2020 version of PhpStorm, haha

  • It comes down to values. Each political position is really just an intellectual rationalization for a set of values.

When you find a political philosophy that makes sense, it’ll be because the values embedded in it align with yours. (Not because it really is objectively true or correct, although it may seem that way).

Conversely when you see a politician saying the dumbest shit you’ve ever heard, they probably have different values than yours.

If you don’t know what’s important in life, you’ll get politically pulled this way and that without settling anywhere for long. Values become clearer with experience.
