Out of curiosity, why buy an Orient watch from jomashop? Was it used? All of their stuff is pretty affordable, why not just buy it used from Amazon or something?

Nice looking watch, can’t help ya on the brand though but it seems like some others in here have. My condolences for the loss of your grandfather.

You should post a pic here of his collection, I always love seeing the older generations taste in watches and what their collections look like. My grandfather left me a few watches and he had a Seiko for everyday use and some really nice pieces for special occasions. If you do end up making a post of his collection please comment here and let me know, I’d love to see it!

That’s the first thing I thought as well.

Every time I buy a new watch I kinda don’t even think about the next one. I find myself losing interest in the subreddit and watch channels the few months after buying a new piece. Then I’ll maybe catch a glimpse of something and dive headfirst back in until I buy a new watch and the cycle continues.

I have the money saved up for my Grand Seiko but would like to buy it in Japan. My wife and I have been planning on doing a trip there with our family because we have never been but life has been so busy we haven’t gotten the chance. I look at them almost every day drooling over them online and ALMOST want to just say fuck it, and pull the trigger now so I can have the watch. It would just be really special to buy it there but it’s the same trope everyone says and I’m sure people are done hearing about it at this point, haha. If we don’t have a trip planned by march, I’m just going to buy it.

Wow, that is a seriously beautiful piece. Never seen this reference before. Wear in good health friend, that baby is gorgeous!

He has a Lange One Moonphase. Not exactly sure the reference. We bond a lot because we’re the only watch guys in the family. I walked into their house one day and he literally ran over and said check this one out I haven’t showed you this yet, then he proceeded to almost drop his Rolex Daytona with a meteorite dial right on the tile floor. He didn’t drop it but it was funny.

My grandfather in law has a pretty stellar collection and his Lange is my favorite out of all of them. You can see as many videos as you want but when you see one in person it’s a whole different level.

Not that they know a lot about them or anything but Yankees fans know about Oris. It’s a sponsor of the team and they have commercials during Yankee games all the time. I saw the Oris Kermit commercial probably 400+ times in the last year haha.
