I think this is part of the plan for them. The lack of shot creation in the starting five forces Wemby into a creator role to see what does and doesn’t work for him. Let him make a lot of plays, good and bad, and then use that info to mold the team around him moving forward. The Spurs see him as their long term #1 option, so it makes sense for them to start pushing him towards that now. It’s a very different situation in OKC for example, where they see Chet as a long term very good #2 or #3, so it makes sense to have him in that role surrounded by ballhandlers right from the start.

He’s been getting to exactly his kinds of shots in the paint, all of those pivots and fades and floaters and up-and-unders, they just haven’t been falling so far.
