Scanning thru all this, there’s so many people who define it as best player rather than most valuable to their team. I guess I’m old school, but there are other awards for “best”.

For example, Manning and Rodgers both won this several times, but if they’d had an elite D, I don’t think they would have deserved it. Instead, look what happened when each was out a year. The entire team collapsed on both sides.

IMO, Miles Garret is a no-brainer. It’s the opposite - the D is carrying this team, and it’s even more impressive with the massive losses on offense. If he was a Raven, his name wouldn’t even be mentioned.

One example of someone who started shining on a new team is Mayfield. In fact, I first saw it with the Rams late last season (Stafford injury), when he started a game like the day after he arrived in town. I was kind of blown away. And he’s doing the same in TB.
