The fourth-year quarterback hasn’t impressed the way Green Bay may have hoped, but the offense around him is too young and inexperienced to draw big conclusions. That’s a problem when the team needs to make a decision about the young quarterback’s contract this offseason.
I don’t think it’s going to be a dilemma for them. If this doesn’t work out by the end of the year then Lafleur is gone and the new coach will want his guy. And most every franchise QB has shown some of it by year 3. So I don’t think it’s going to be a hard decision to move on from him. And sure, maybe he can have a Geno type resurgence. But how many of those have happened in the last 30 years?
Not sure why the downvote, but I agree.
One example of someone who started shining on a new team is Mayfield. In fact, I first saw it with the Rams late last season (Stafford injury), when he started a game like the day after he arrived in town. I was kind of blown away. And he’s doing the same in TB.
