So, it looks like the ‘Alien’ franchise will live on to see another day. Spurred by strong word of mouth, Fede Alvarez’s “Alien: Romulus” is headed towards a $45M opening this weekend.
Alvarez, who directed 2016’s “Don’t Breathe,” is clearly not done with the franchise either. He’s already teasing a potential “Alien Vs. Predator” movie, but there’s a catch.
“Maybe it’s something I’ll have to co-direct with my buddy Dan,” Alvarez says. That friend being Dan Tratchenberg who directed the 2022 ‘Predator’ prequel “Prey” for Hulu and is already working on another movie in the franchise.
“Maybe we should do like Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez did with ‘Dusk Till Dawn’. I’ll direct a half, and he’ll direct another half.”
I’d definitely be up for this as long as Alvarez didn’t write his half as he must be partly responsible for the issues in A:R’s script and I am not sure I trust him not to do the same thing with a Predator movie.
That might be something Dan Tratchenberg should take care of. Prey is the first “Predator” movie where I actually wanted to see the main character succeed, not just survive.
Yeah, he absolutely nailed it. I feel he is a safe pair of hands for any future project in this fictional universe.
