I know Espn 100 is wack. But I would rather let them vote for top 100 than these clown experts who think just because they played the game their opinion somehow weighs higher. Most of these former (especially veteran) players just keep on hating the European players and try to minimise their game by saying that the game has gone soft. Its just ridiculous they can’t give them their flowers.

If not Luka than who? don’t tell me Kyrie. People need to stop twerking for that streetball player. He already checked out 5 years ago

I like Gilbert’s show but he’s in the Stephen A sensationalism entertainment category not the JJ Reddick chilled basketball chat category.

If you watch the show regularly you’ll see Gil always chooses kinda outlandish takes to promote arguments and then he’ll defend his position by yelling over people, laughing loudly, asking dumb rhetorical questions etc.

I think it’s a good show but it’s pretty clear he’s going for entertainment not sober analysis.

That word “ruled” you’re using is doing a lot of heavy lifting and you may just be like Gilbert Arenas yourself with your hyperbolic statement

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, that kind of debate style drives a lot of engagement as much as some fans hate it.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Jokic being the best doesn’t mean that the nba is rules by euro stars bc he’s the only one.

I haven’t (and will not) listen but considering they must be debating vs Kyrie, if the last few years have shown is that the players have way higher regard for Kyrie than virtually everyone else. He can do things they can’t in a way that few guys can. Sure, Luka is unquestionably better, but Kyrie can make certain plays that basically no one else can, and that resonates with NBA guys more than “stats” and “showing up to your team facility”

I know Kyrie is probably the best one on one player. But the game is played 5 on 5 and tends to favour the longer and powerful player.

Luka would stomp Kyrie in one on one though. Just a superior basketball player in almost every facet except for cool dribbles and sick layups.

Let’s not beat around the bush. There is a racial element that exists. Just like the Perkins situation. We don’t need to be shy about it. There are a lot of Black American ballers and individuals in general who don’t love the fact Europeans, including Giannis, are kinda taking over the league to a degree and in the minds of some, feel are treated with a positive bias that they don’t get. Those feelings are very legitimate, and it’s exacerbated a bit by the majority of journalists being White and/or non-American. So they feel like there’s a bias that’s kinda going unspoken.

Bias goes both ways. Harden got a lot more flack for his playstyle than Luka does. NBA media goes easy on the European guys.

I don’t entirely disagree that NBA media goes easier on the Europeans but I think that’s in part because the Europeans are easier to get along with. Although I do not the Harden vs Luka narrative differences. That flack was more fan driven though in Harden’s direction.

Because Luka performs in the playoffs. If Harden elevated his game in big moments like Luka did no one would talk shit about him. Ridiculous.

Yeah Kyrie played 20 games. You gotta have more than one good player on your team to make the playoffs in the west. Did you forget what he’s done when he made the playoffs? Remember when he punked the Sun’s with fucking Dorian Finney Smith and Tim Hardaway Junior? The reason Harden gets shit on is because he shrinks in the biggest moments. Luka does the opposite.

You listened to arenas. Thats where you went wrong. Theres only 2 rules one must follow in life

rule number 1: do not listen to gilbert arenas

rule number 2: follow rule number 1

The Arenas Rule says that If/when the home team is restricted in the amount of salary they can offer, that amount of salary can’t be exceeded in year 1 by any competing offer. This way, no matter what happens, the home team can afford (at least in the short term) to retain their player

I think from a marketability standpoint the NBA would like to have a domestic player that will appeal more to domestic fans. If we’re being honest here, bonus points if they’re white (we can’t understate how huge Larry Bird was in the 80’s).

I think the league was tapping Ja for that role, but after the gun shit that’s off the table. Ant could maybe take that role but the homophobic slurs certainly isn’t a good start.
