Saw another post about the smoothest players in the game. I’m thinking of the opposite of smooth. Players who move or shoot in a way that makes you go, “how did that guy do THAT?”.

    That’s Jokic for me.

Man looks like he’s falling over or getting shoved, slow as hell, can’t defend.

But he’s the MVP god and will fuck your team up 6 ways from sunday.

The Sambor Shuffle does NOT pass the eye test for what a “good shot” is supposed to be. But the ball goes in the hoop regardless.

He practiced this for fun during his ankle injury cus he couldn’t shoot off his left foot. It’s the dumbest but most elegant signature shot I’ve ever seen.

Since then he’s been hitting them…

Jokic looks exhausted and that gives teams hopes in the playoffs but that’s just how he plays

I was expecting his then fat self to keel over and collapse for 4 straight overtimes in that series against the blazers (game 3 2019 WCSF)

His highlights are always the least athletic incredibly impressive shit ever.

He looks like a player who eats a couple of hotdogs at halftime and is in a bit of a food coma, but somehow it all works together.

^This. Jokic clatters around like a newborn gazelle that’s just learned to walk. Then he jumps off the wrong leg, trebuchets the ball at the bucket, and hits nothing but net.

his sombre shuffle is one of the most efficient shots in basketball and it looks like the most ridiculous looking shots in the game

Jokic to me is very smooth. Very little wasted movement. Super clean footwork in the post. Feathery soft touch from 4-10 ft. Just a bit of mouth breathing

Are you sure about little wasted movement? I swear he flails and the limbs go in the wrong directions either on purpose or by habit at this point. You could say that’s intentional wasted movement

Idk man he gets to his spots effortlessly and quickly. He gets into his shot quickly. He makes the decision to shoot or pass quickly. All of his moves seem deliberately and tightly executed

Jokic’s shots on contested drives look like he’s just throwing the ball up while trying to draw a foul on gravity. But they’re money.

Jokic is very smooth, the way he get off shots in unorthodox angles, and how often the ball just swishes makes it pleasing to watch imo

He can defend when he puts his mind to it, though. Obviously not at the level of his big man peers or even Larry Bird, but he can make shots tougher by his sheer positioning and audibles to teammates.

Absolutely the prime example of this imo. No one is salivating over a Jokic highlight reel.
