2018 all around was a fantastic draft with tons of stars and very few misses in the lottery (Bagley, Bamba, Knox, and Robinson), a couple solid players in the 20s, and then quite possibly the most stacked 2nd round ever when it comes to volume of quality rotation players.

Gotta say tho, when those picks whiffed, they were all a hell of a whiff. Robinson was terrible, Knox has been kicking around as a 15th guy, Bamba’s career highlight is a song, and Bagley has been incredibly whelming.

Man I love the second round, and now they added those new contract options. If your team can scout and develop there’s players back there every draft. The pool of talent is so big. With extra roster spots and gleague, you can really single out some guys you like and want to take chances on, and then put them to work. 1st round is as much about who you should take, not who you want to take.

I still think it’s nuts that Brunson didn’t go in the 1st round. Like he was legit the best college player of the 2010s yet somehow no one wanted to pick him?

Mavs drafting Luka and Brunson the same year might be one of the best draft’s by a team in history

Scouts are terrified of taking older players in the lottery. Jalen was a third year guy and small and people didn’t trust his game would translate or that he would be able to elevate further considering his extended time in college.

Teams seem to be coming around on that though and are more willing to take multi-year college prospects in the first round than they used to be.

Funny enough, the best draft night by a team ever is also the Mavs. Walked away with Dirk and Nash in the '98 draft.

The mavs really do not learn anything from the past. And nash walked away from them before his peak (just like brunson), and brunson’s fav player was nash (wears the same no.)

Jevon Fucken Carter, definitely a defensive specialist loved his attitude when he was playing for the Bucks last season, hope he can continue being a recognized defender in Chicago.
