  • He could 100% have a coaching job if he wanted to no question at very minimum as an assistant. But also could pretty easily get the HC job at a number of teams. But most of those teams suck and he doesn’t want to coach them lol. The thing is D’antoni, much like a lot of other successful head coaches, don’t want to coach a team he does not think they can contend and more importantly if he does not think they can run his offense.

I think he is just enjoying being an advisor for the Pelicans right now because he is legit being paid to just watch games from his couch and occasionally call the coaching staff and say “you should try more small ball”

  • This is really interesting. Not just the Shaq dunk stats but the point about how easy it is to dismiss any stat you can’t find on basketball reference. Because that sentiment is so true. For a lot of people, convenience seems to be the most important factor in determining the validity of something.

The more work required to answer a question the less valid people seem to think the answer is.

It’s the same with those JJ Reddit type of guys who like to dismiss any era of basketball before the 80s. The primary reason is because it is simply harder to find footage and analysis for those guys. It’s not like it’s impossible, there is still lots of footage and even more analysis and books about the 50s, 60s, and 70s eras of basketball. But since it takes more time to find that footage and analysis, people just choose to question the validity of those eras as a whole.

  • HOF is honestly more about what people remember about a player more than anything. Like what is there legacy when people talk about them.

Rodgers will be remembered as having the greatest arm talent of all time. He obviously gets in.

Brees will go down as one of if not the best pure passer of all time. At minimum the most accurate ever that proved to be able to win. He is a lock.

    Tom Brady is the GOAT…

Big Ben will be remembered one of the most ultimate winners, who is one of the most naturally talented QBs of all time. I think he easily gets in.

But that then brings us to -

Matt Ryan - I just don’t know what exactly will he be remembered for. I know A LOT of people think of the blown Super Bowl lead when they think of him. And even disregarding the Super Bowl, it’s also just I don’t think he is that memorable of a QB. For perspective even tho he is without a doubt the best and most successful QB in franchise history, I think there are A LOT of fans who still think of Michael Vick when they think of the Atlanta Falcons. So yeah I honestly don’t know if he gets in

Eli Manning - I don’t think he will get in but him beating Brady in 2 Super Bowls honestly does help him a ton. Like if he were to beat 2 other QBs I don’t think he has a shot. But the fact Brady’s legacy is so huge and Eli’s legacy his so closely tied to it. I think it’s possible he gets in but unlikely

Then the most interesting one I think is Russell Wilson. Because his career with the Seahawks was not only VERY successful, but he also carved out a lane that I think would really be remembered by the voters. That being he will probably be considered the ultimate scrambling QB. But now with everything on the Broncos it really has hurt his legacy and honestly boosted Pete Carrols

  • JJ Reddick’s podcast definitely sounds like it has what you are looking for. He definitely dives deep into the basketball aspect of it and keeps up with what is going on in the nba. I’m personally not the biggest fan of his analysis because he legit seems to care more about stats and advanced metrics than legit any other analyst I have ever seen. Especially during the season he will mention RAPTOR 10x a podcast.

But still he is pretty much the only player ran podcast that really dives deep into the the more complex elements. Actually Draymond also does it on his podcast as well but it’s lowkey a hard listen sometimes. I always thought Draymond should get a co host because he is way better at answering questions than he is at just trying to generally cover a topic.

I also really enjoy reading the Ringer. They put out pretty high quality stuff and the more you read the more you will figure out which writers you like and which you don’t. I highly recommend checking out Kevin O’Connor’s draft guides that he has been doing the past few years:

Also you can replace the year in that link and go look back at previous draft guides, I find them all really interesting even years out. I was just reading the 2018 thought it was cool seeing how certain players turned out
