U see a lot of young guys scoring 20 points a game. But does this translate into the regular season. Some teams appear great on paper and in preseason but can it be that they fail to perform upto the expectations in the regular season?Does removing the pressure of winning or losing in the preseason game coz it doesn’t count towards your standings help players to perform better?

The 2 NFL teams that went 0-16 in the regular season both went 4-0 in the preseason.

The NBA preseason doesn’t seem to be quite as extreme, but it also doesn’t mean shit.

Teams are trying new schemes and lineups.

Stars don’t play or go at half speed.

Most players don’t play with full defensive effort.

Veterans are just trying not to get injured.

This is why young guys that are actually trying hard perform really well in preseason.

I think it is clarifying in some ways more than others.

You can often spot breakout players. You can tell Kuminga, Wemby, Chet, Barnes etc. are going to really good.

Sample size is too small and the rotation minutes are different, plus teams are generally healthier. Too much noise.

Teams are most likely the healthiest they will ever be, players are still confident with their shots, and everyone is the most optimistic. Enjoy while it lasts!
