We see after every season how people turn on players in the recent years after giving them so much praise and how they uplift one player after one season
Under radar, but I think if Cam reddish can’t put together at least a mediocre season, he will lose a lot of hopefuls. Especially since he around Bron and the lakers.
Davion Mitchell is a beast that could take a path comparable to Jalen Brunson.
I hope i’m wrong but i think Banchero is not good.
I’ve seen a lot of All-Star buzz around Paolo Banchero, but it seems like year 3 is when most guys make that jump
Austin Reaves is going to get attacked defensively this year. I think Zach Collins is going to play well next to Wemby.
whoever the best players are on the 9th and 10th seeded teams that miss the Playoffs out West after the Play-ins.
I think people are expecting big things of Haliburton and any stalling of progression this year after getting a big max extension is going to cause people to turn on him.
If the Thunder don’t make the playoffs convincingly this season, then I think people will start to turn on Shai
I don’t at all. I’ve watched that guy win by himself a bunch of times. If they don’t make the playoffs I’d feel comfortable saying it’s not on him unless he drastically took a step back.
I think Halli’s contrast between being a top 6 or so fantasy player versus his actual value is gonna hurt him in conversations.
100% you guys and the media have been hyping the shit out of us. If we miss out on the playoffs I may have to spend a few days off the sub.
This sub is 80% haters man. Shai is the golden child now, enjoy it. They will turn on him like they always do and you’ll realize how much you need to ignore everything anyone says here.
Should we not tho? You got a generational player in Shai who somehow got this team in the play in and then you got another Generational, 2 way talent at Center who’s playing for the first time this season not to mention Giddey, Jdub, Dort and etc so I feel like the hype is warrant here lol
Honestly you should legit be banned for this comment
You realise what generational means right? Lebron was generational, Kobe, MJ, wemby (if he stays healthy). Shai’s amazing, not generational.
Kobe was not generation prospect. He was a very raw talent. Only reason they could not reach the finals till 2000.
has a good pre-season
Generational talent.
Luka took a worse team to the WCF and people are hyping up Shai for taking a solid team to the play-in. And Shai is older. Hilarious how different the standards are.
I think the same for Hali
Naw Haliburton is entering only his 4th year, Shai is entering his 6th. Another year or two away before that happens
Holy shit SGA has been around for 6 years.
Larry Bird just rejoined the Pacers. Maybe they are now interested in contending.
And where exactly would you fall if the Thunder don’t “convincingly” make the playoffs?
Feels like the west is stacked though and anything can happen. How are they going to make it convincingly when there’s the nuggets, suns, lakers, clippers, warriors that on paper are better than the Thunder.
My opinion on SGA wouldn’t change unless something completely drastic happened, but I noticed that the general masses will always flip on players if they don’t win consistently
Even if it was out of their control (poor trades, injuries, awful team…etc)
Heard. Agree.
And even if they do, whatever team’s fanbases he plays against, will turn against him from all the free throws he gets.
Devin Booker
People have unreal expectations for wembanyama right now. Some of them will definitely turn on him when he doesn’t put up 30/10 every game.
Everyday I pray on wembys downfall. Not for him to get injured or anything, just for him to average a “measly” 22/7/5/2 and have everyone leave the bandwagon
Those stats as a rookie would have even more people hyped for him than now lmao
why?
You think him putting up those stats as a rookie would have people leaving the bandwagon?? Lol, it’d grow into an army if hes putting up those numbers on top of his defense.
People peg him as a rookie year DPOY & that he’s making all-star, all of that based on some flashes in pre-season games. People always overreact to these pre-season games, like it’s mostly for end of bench players to try & earn minutes, rookies to get a feel for the floor, and actual starter players to get some cardio before the season starts, that’s it.
I think Wemby will show a lot of flashes of what he can become, but he won’t have close to the consistency people expect. He’ll put up more stinker games than people expect, where he either gets abused by the top end guards, gets in foul trouble early, and his shot ain’t falling. His efficiency will be pretty bad overall I think.
Yeah it was preseason but anybody with eyes could tell that he’s for real. Only question with him is gonna be health and then to a lesser degree how consistent his shot can be. But yes I do think he’s possibly the league’s best defender from day 1. Probably can be bullied by bigger bodies but he’s so unreal on that end it’s ridiculous
I don’t doubt he’s for real at all, I doubt his offensive game being polished enough to put up all-stars numbers. For example he’s not as accomplished in Europe as Luka was coming into the league, and Luka didn’t make AS in a year when it was arguably less competitive than now. Victors efficiency in LNB Pro A just last year was mediocre, a league which is considered worse than ACB which Luka dominated, never mind Euroleague. I think Wemby will be something like 20/11/3 PPG on below league average TS% & competing for league leader in blocks. That’s not enough to make AS with todays competition.
Is it weird (or even possible) that I think he has a better chance of DPOY than all star? That being said, I agree he has more work to do on the offensive end but also don’t really think people care that much about efficiency for all star purposes.
I’m also a bit higher on his offensive game than you seem to be, IMO it’s in between what you think and what public thinks somewhere
I think his defense is what I think is already going to be really good because of the way he’s so fast for his size and already has that experience with timing at the pro level from France. His passing is already really good and I just think his scoring consistency will take the most development, especially with shooting
This is also what I’m expecting. Hopefully he will end up somewhere in the middle but rookies almost always struggle with efficiency.
The cynical side of me wants to agree with you, but I think he might really live up to it. I doubt dpoy, but all-star is an actual expectation.
He would be the first ever rookie DPOY so yeah. I think it will be very hard for him to make all-star, you need the PPG to qualify for it pretty much & I don’t think his offensive game is developed enough to put up the numbers. He will get the touches, but he will also get a lot of defensive attention from day 1.
We can look at his accomplishments in Europe, and while they look very promising they’re way behind what Luka did before coming into the league. And I would say the all-star race is harder than back then.
He took Wiggins’ soul the other night. If it was JJJ’s block numbers that took DPOY last year, I don’t see why Wemby can’t.
It’s funny to see some of the classic rookie predictions here (e.g. bad shot efficiency)… I think people overlook that he can literally stand still and shoot over everyone in the NBA.
I think the doubters are going to get shut up real quick.
JJJ didn’t win DPOY because he blocked a potential 6 points a game.
JJJ won DPOY because Steven Adams covered up his flaws especially rebounding.
Adams played half a year. Jaren was still dominating. He will be the betting favorite for DPOY again despite losing Adams.
It’s not just the ridiculous blocks and steals…Wemby is already showing flashes of peak Gobert/young Kawhi levels of opposing players noping out of even trying Wemby.
will be high on: pascal siakam
will be low on: FVV
Jordan Poole for both
Austin reached from high to low And Greyson Allen from low to high
Jordan Poole: He’s still going to be inefficient, and even more so now because he doesn’t have Klay and Steph opening up space for him.
Kyrie Irving: I don’t like Kyrie, his bullshit is seriously old. However, he’s still one of the best scorers on the planet, and I think he realizes he needs to put together a reasonable season because people are so done with him. That said, at some point he’s going to want a few weeks off during the season… shit. I’m talking myself out of this.
Yup the kyrie disrespect (of him as a player) is getting ridiculous, dude is a top 5 guard, and I think once luka and him figure it out they will be tough to beat. Mavs making the playoffs calling it now.
With what defence.
Lots of Dubs fans were ready to disown Draymond. In truth, still are, but we are waiting to see how this season shakes out. Most Dubs fans are scared as shit going into this season imo.
High on now/turned lower on later: Paolo Banchero.
Low on now/turned higher on later: Tyler Herro.
