Man, I’d kill for a progressive wave in the midterm primaries. Make folks like Bernie and AOC the default in the party and we’ll be ready for a comeback.

I am looking forward to the copycats who will surely start popping up!

I’m also more broadly in favor of arming ourselves at town halls and counter protests.

These people need to feel fear. So do their enablers

I saw a disturbing video yesterday, of a woman getting beaten up and dragged out of an Idaho town hall meeting for voicing opposition to the leadership. The people “arresting” her refused to say who they were and reporters said that the local Republicans wouldn’t identify the organization. I keep asking myself whether I’d have the guts to intervene in such a situation. I’m not a large person, nor have I ever considered myself violent or looking for fights… But I feel what I can only call “bloodlust” for these thugs and these politicians. I have since fantasized about what I would do to these fascistic security people with their fucking zip ties.

Dude is singlehandedly stirring the resistance to get ready to cook. AOC is as well on social media, but Burnie is on another level. Meeting people face to face is huge. It makes it personal.

AOC definitely isn’t just on social media. She’s been out on the streets giving speeches with protesters and helped obstruct DOGE from receiving data from some departments.

Still I hear you. Bernie is a force who just seems more invigorated when he smells corruption.

Yeah I think he’s laying the groundwork for AOC. Not that I expect we will have an election in 2028, but she’s still a very powerful voice of resistance.

Whom we will need when Bernie is gone.

          He was. 30 years ago.

The dems would rather lose than allow a progressive win. If he were 30 years younger, they’d say he wasn’t experienced enough.

30 years ago he was also in his 50s and a 3 term congressman in Vermont about to be reelected in the 1996 election for his 4th term. Basically the same place AOC is now, he also wasn’t nearly the powerhouse he is now. The only reason he is the person he is now is because of everything after.

Fuck it. Bernie should run in 2028. Just have him outright say in the campaign, “look, I know I’m too old to be president. I’ll be managing things a bit like Trump is now - heavy delegation to people I trust. The main differences is my people aren’t bloody evil. And I’ll have AOC as my VP.”

For all I care, Bernie can conduct his entire presidency from his home in Vermont, delegating basically everything to people he puts in charge. Trump has already set that precedent with Elon and friends. There will be some perfunctory duties he has to perform, but past the actual election, there’s no reason you can’t largely run a presidency via delegation.

Or Hell, he can run for president on the explicit promise to immediately resign upon winning (if Democrats control the House.) And then select AOC as the VP. Let Sanders run the election as one last great hurrah. Use that fire and passion of him as a living symbol. You’re not voting for a man, you’re voting for a message. And if Sanders is willing to literally give up the presidency, completely willingly, for AOC or some other VP? (Remember, once in, there’s no way to force him to resign.) If he trusts that person enough to walk away from the greatly expanded powers of the presidency, he must really trust them. That is the greatest possible endorsement someone could ever give.

This is stupid. Bernie is great but if you want a progressive candidate like him it should be AOC. Bernie will be 86 in 2028. That’s nuts. It’s crazy how many people who harp on how we shouldn’t have old people in charge are suddenly okay with it when it’s the one they like.

Bernie is too old. It. Should. Not. Be. Him. Under any circumstances.

Maybe Bernie should just start running for president now. Fuck it. Trump already established that precedent. I’m serious. We should run Bernie. He can even outright say that he’s going to run the presidency largely via delegation, and that he will rarely if ever leave his home in Vermont. I for one would be much happier having the US run by the friendly progressive Grandpa in Vermont than Lord Voldemort and Kaptain Ketamine in DC. And he could delegate most of his duties to trusted lieutenants, just as Trump is doing now. Trump is largely disengaged from the day-to-day running of the White House, and Bernie could be as well if he wanted. The presidency is famously a hard job, but it’s also one of those jobs that’s kind of only as hard as you want it to be. Hell, if he felt the need to cede core planning to someone, he could cede it to his VP, AOC or someone else. I know Bernie isn’t really up for a full presidential term, but the presidency is ultimately a job you can do if you are literally senile. We know that from the Reagan years at least.

Jacobin. Funny, because Bernie appears paralyzed in that photo, if Bernie sanders comes up with one plan of action that doesn’t include talking Republicans into submission, I’d be happy to hear it.

*edit: it’s simply incredible watching the lefties like Bernie, AOC, Omar, Tlaib, and there rest of the fucking SQUAD , who supported the “genocide joe” “from the river to the sea” marches on television news every night for months, that freaked out the democratic base, and suppressed the democratic youth vote, giving the election to trump with a 2.3% margin, now start wanting to pump out stories from fucking JACOBIN about how they’ve got some excellent ideas on how to fix shit, after losing the whole world to fascists. Fuck otta here. I’ll be seeing you in the rubble, while we fight over tinned beans and rainwater.

It’s super easy to talk trash and criticize while offering zero solutions yourself. Bernie shifted the national discourse to the left and has a moral compass, whether or not you agree with him on all issues. He’s doing what he can to better the country. The left needs to coalesce and figure out real world ways to better it. I read lots of voices online in leftist spaces who talk disparagingly of Bernie and others, all while offering literally no solutions themselves. I’m sincerely hoping people on the left can unite for a positive and real world change. We need to go beyond “Bernie sucks” to tangible ways we can better this country and world. If you have a real idea, share it.

Dudes rollin’ through the country giving speeches to thousands. It looks like he not only has a plan but is taking action. There were only 2500 or so people there on J6. What would happen if there were more?
