I really REALLY want to be excited about it, but it’s hard. I don’t feel like the players really care, so why should I care? It’s not the championship. It’s the start of the season, so every team is already trying to win every game they can. The trophy isn’t really a needed incentive.

I know people love tournaments, but usually they end in a championship. Not a mid-season award.

Help me out here. Why should I be hyped for this? I really want to be. I would love for the long regular season to be a bit more exciting. This could be the start of a good idea but I don’t feel like anyone is going to care about who wins the cup in the middle of the season.

    Nearly everyone is healthy, unlike at the end of the regular season when the playoffs start.

    This means we’ll get to see who is really the best. No more “If Kawhi and PG are healthy, the Clippers will win everything.”

    Do you get excited about regular season games? The in-season tournament is just regular season games with a cash prize.

    If you don’t get excited about regular season games, then you likely won’t get excited about the in-season tournament.

    If you do get excited about regular season games, then that’s exactly what’s happening.

    The cup game was pretty fun in the W. Turned out to be a finals preview match up wise too.

    Even if players aren’t the most amped right now, all it will take is one exciting run for this to become a thing.

    Once that happens you will have games of significance on Tuesday & Friday during the fall.

    • I think one of the best ways to look at it is;
      • Thursday: NFL game
      • Friday: NBA Tournament games:
      • Saturday: College Football
      • Sunday: NFL games
      • Monday: Monday Night Football
      • Tuesday: NBA Tournament games
      • Wednesday: rest

    Ten years from now when the NFL looks at expanding it’s coverage it will be huge for the NBA to own Tuesday & Friday night.
