They are world class athletes with the best doctors, nutritionists, personal chefs and they get paid millions of dollars to stay in shape and play games. They can easily play basketball 2 nights in a row. There are people at YMCA who play every day. The potential injury issue is nonsense. Does anyone have any statistics on how many players get injured playing back to back? and is it significantly higher than non back to back injuries?

Michael Jordan played 9x 82 game seasons, 1x 81 game season, and 1x 80 game season. He played 82 games in his rookie year and 82 games in his last year in the league at age 40. If players really wanted to play every game they can. They just dont want to.

Michael Jordan was a different type of athlete. Can we stop using him as an example for everything? Also, he was burnt out and that’s why he retired in the middle of his prime.

If I could not work the day after I just worked and get paid for it I would do it every other day.

The people at the YMCA don’t play at an NBA level. They don’t run as fast, they don’t jump as high. There’s no shot clock. Half the time they don’t get back on defense. They don’t move or cut on offense

There’s still time to delete this post.

I know fuck all about the physical toll that a professional game takes on world class athletes but I am pretty sure you don’t know that either and therefore probably aren’t in a position to speak to whether or not it’s “easy” for them to do it.

This has to be a troll thread. There’s no other reason he’d specifically use Michael Jordan, a guy who took a 2 year break in the middle of his prime, as a counterexample.

I don’t think back to backs are a big deal if there’s no travel involved. Home for 2 games in 2 days? No problem.

But if you gotta finish a game, get showered and dressed, get on a plane, fly god knows where, check into a hotel, try to sleep in an unfamiliar bed, get up, warm up, and play another game in 24 hours?

Bull fucking shit. You’re robbing the fans of quality games at that point.
