Your success in selling is determined largely by your answer to that question.
Ideally i’m selling what people DESPERATELY NEED
BOTH
…but they need bravery
That’s a tough business selling something that you need to be brave to buy. My customers don’t need to do anything to buy from me.
All I ask of my clients is to face their mortality
I sell funny underwear. People love them and I love creating and selling them. Random Stock Apparel
Best of both worlds. What kinda revenue you doing?
I think in some occasions that‘s the same thing. If in doubt, chose the latter lol
Is this a trick question?
Because my business is not selling anything…
What’s your business then?
How do you make money then?
Both! I have a rule, I’ll never sell something I wouldn’t like myself
Yes
When you sell what you want to sell, you sell passionately. When you sell what people want to buy, you make money. Finding a balance is key.
I’m doing both!
I sell a service I strongly believe in. Many other people are good at providing this service. I am good at finding people who want this service and directly speaking to their pain points in a way my larger competitors are unable to.
C) What I’m able to sell.
There’s lots of things people want to buy, but I either can’t crack into that market (mostly due to economies of scale) or they don’t want to buy it from me (strong existing supplier relations). So I sell what I’m able to sell. I find niches where I can gain a significant enough advantage that I can profit.
Middle school wisdom.
Please try to hold a higher standard when writing a post.
Fortunately for me and unfortunately for you, NEVER went to middle school Sir.
both… started with what the people want to buy… I made good money out of it and paid me enough to actually sell what I want to sell.
Hmm that’s definitely a very interesting question but quite depends on because you may sell something that only few people need so you’d be making a huge profit selling to them although most of the people don’t need
both 😃 personal training, i sell service and enjoy helping people by really doing something for them, and i get paid for their happines that they really want :)
You sell them these micro moments ( each training session) along their journey and quest to becoming a better version of themselves ( google jobs-to-be-done)
I keep reminding my clients, you ( me - or - the service provider) are not the HERO in the story, the customer IS and they are on the hero’s journey ( Joseph Campbell’s book a hero of a thousand faces - hero’s journey framework can be applied to every good movie story / script) We are but a Sherpa guiding them along their progress path(way) 💯 👍
I love that framing 👍
It depends on the business model and customer segments. In the case of B2B, you must close the gap in the market by offering solutions or simplifying existing ones. In the case of B2C, focus on people’s needs. In the case of C2C, people will sell what others need within your solution.
