Dogs discovered with skin and dental issues include toy poodle mixes, pomeranians, chihuahuas and yorkies

More than 100 dogs were rescued from an apparent puppy mill in North Carolina where they were kept in “egregious conditions”, an animal shelter said.

The SPCA of Wake county on Wednesday removed 101 dogs from a home that appeared to have been functioning as a puppy mill. In a statement online, the shelter said that the dogs had been “surrounded by their own waste, packed 5 or 6 to a cage and stacked floor to ceiling, or free roaming in cramped quarters and filth”.

The shelter, working alongside Raleigh animal control, also said that there had been numerous mother dogs with very young nursing puppies, adding that 19 of those dogs were now in SPCA Wake’s care.

toy poodle mixes, pomeranians, chihuahuas and yorkies

Outrageous either way, but I was expecting Dalmatians.

you would think so, by dalmatian apparently tend to be rare breeds to be owned, because they are high energy dogs.

I’ve owned two. One was a female and was indeed high energy. The other was a male and was a very chill dog. Not high-strung at all. 🤷‍♂️

You’ll need a rechargeable electric shaver, and a quart of black paint…

Here’s what you do. First shave the dogs carefully. Then…oh you’ll need several circular stancil sizes…

Pretty hard to identify them but here are some steps to avoid them. The main thing to check for is whether they have certificates from your national kennel club and how often do they have litters. If they have one female dog and litters from her quite often that’s a bad sign.

Another quick tip is to avoid “designer” breeds altogether like poodle mixes and such. Way higher risk of terrible breeding practices in these cases. If you want a mix go adopt one, buying a puppy from a breeder should only really be done for purebreds.

I always see signs around “puppies for sale @ xyz” or listed with a phone number, or camped out in a busy parking lot with a puppy pen out. It enrages me so fucking much because there’s nothing I can do about it

Monsters who force dogs to keep having puppies without any regard to the health of any of the dogs involved. Lots of inbreeding and higher rates of genetic issues in the puppies.
