The one thing I miss since no longer going to theaters much (unless it’s a movie I really want to watch in IMAX) is that I miss out on the discussions following a film’s release. I wonder if we can have discussion threads here for movies when they are released on streaming/digital so the ones who didn’t see it in cinemas can discuss.
Honestly that seems like a much better way to discuss and enjoy movies in these communities over the endless CEO wanking, profit drooling and box office fellating articles that seemingly dominate these film and tv communities.
It’s the most shallow way to see and appreciate storytelling if all you care about is how much profit it made some CEO.
You should definitely make some posts about movies you want to talk about and try to get the conversation going! I’d join in if I saw the movie.
Yeah I’ll probably try doing that. I’ll post discussion threads whenever I can watch a new movie within a reasonable time as the digital release.
How irritating is Aaron Taylor-Johnson in it?
Very good. Much less Kick-Ass or Bullet Train, much closer to his turn in Nosferstu. In any case, he’s in a supporting role, so, regardless of your feelings on him, it shouldn’t affect your enjoyment too much.
I enjoyed it greatly. It seemed like several movies in one.
This movie sucked. It was all over the place. Seemed distracted with setup a sequal instead of giving a good movie.
Agreed. Just another product made to set up future payments for its CEO
Exactly my thought when shutting it off in tepid but expected disappointment. It’s a long commercial, and a shitty one at that.
It’s actually a quite well crafted movie, that breaks with expectations. Which of course is always controversial.
What you thought was distracting was what, the first 4 min, and last 90sec? Does that really distract from the 100 min in between? Does it really set up a sequel? The first part is quick a reminder how the movie’s world came to be the way it is. The last is simply a payoff to what was set up at the beginning. “Oh yah you probably forgot about that thing. Well, here it is again. Have a good one.”
The last 90 setup the sequel. You pointlessly setup a group that was backround teased and the nothing “blood bag.” No point.
The second to last “twist” that was just dropped off with no explantation or even how it happened. Pointless.
It felt like Ten cloverfield lane. Two movies smashed together but instead of a sharp cut in tone. It was a jagged, whiplash sequence.
When the movie is so bad that even people who don’t make videos about movie reviews feel the need to complain about a product so devoid of quality and clearly just another cash grab for some CEO, you know it’s bad…
People are far more passionate about complaining, than praising. It doesn’t surprise me that a random non movie reviewer made a video about a movie they didn’t like. It doesn’t indicate anything about the actual quality of a movie, only their opinion of it.
