EPM is probably the best publicly available single number advanced stat out right now. https://dunksandthrees.com/epm. Keep in mind it’s early in the season so small sample size and there’s gonna be large variance.

Top 15:

Jokic

Embiid

Shai

Steph

Lebron

Scottie

Haliburton

Mitchell

Holmgren

Fox

Maxey

Tatum

Durant

Doncic

Booker

Hey Magic fans… Goga Bitadze is your highest ranked player at 33 right now… I haven’t had a chance to watch one of your games this season, but… Does that match the eye test?

Hali dropped from 3 to 7 because of his bad game last night. Too early in the season to care about this when it swings so hard on a game to game basis IMO

    Things that stand out:

    • Jokic #1? He is good but best in the league good?

    • Steph #5

    • Haliburton #7

    • Mitchell #8

    • Doncic #14

    • Booker #15

All of these guys are extremely high. Not saying they are all “bad defenders” but definitely average or below average.

    • Players ranked below Trae Young: Bam, White, Butler, Suggs, Caruso, OG, Turner, Davis, McDaniels, Draymond, Gobert

    • Dort is not on here?

Like you said, the sample is still small, so I won’t write it off yet, but so far, I am not impressed with this stat.

Interesting to look at Offensive EPM as well. Has the top offensive players as:

    1. Jokic

    2. Hali

    3. Luka / Steph (tie)

    4. Embiid

    5. Booker

    6. Fox

    7. SGA

    8. DMitch

    9. Lebron/KD

Seems to be pretty damn accurate for the season so far tbh.

Scottie barnes has been fuckin amazing to start the year. He’s had good numbers, but even his numbers don’t do him justice now that he demands respect out to the 3 point line and his handles are starting to improve, it’s opened up his offense so much. And defensively, idk if it’s a scheme thing that was holding him back last year or poor health, but he looks like a damn monster on that end.
