Every time I see Wemby I just think rookie KD. Rushing a lot of shots cause everything seems like a decent shot based on their prior experience. He will learn learn to take better shots and he will get better teammates to take the pressure off him.

Pop is explicitly telling him to just fuck around while he figures out what his strengths and weaknesses are. The plan is to use the beginning of the season as a feeling-out period, then Pop’s gonna design a system around him

This will get buried in a thread full of haters but I’m not worried at all about Wemby. He’s 19 and gonna be an insanely special player. This is all a product of “what have you done for me lately?”

Yeah lol it’s just James stans releasing their pent up rage that professionals dared say he was a better prospect.

You gotta expect some pushback when the guy you hype as the best prospect since Duncan isn’t even the best rookie right now

James wasn’t the best rookie his rookie year with similar hype. Don’t say it too loud for the kids though.

I’ve said this time and time again.

Wemby needs to stop trying to be Kevin Durant and needs to embrace Giannis.

He can do Giannis better than Giannis.

Pop should just turn into Walter Matthew in the original Bad News Bears and start cracking open beers on the sideline. Or I guess he’s more of a wine guy

Its time to stop experimenting, if that was what Pop actually was doing. Time to start implementing structure and actually set up plays that give Wemby better looks closer to the basket, and also time to get Wemby to cut down on the threes, the step backs, and the long fadeaways. It’s great he can hit them, but he can’t hit them consistently, and its not building good habits. In short, time to start actually coaching. Can Pop still coach at this point? Do we even know?

Also 3 rebounds? Dude is 7’4, 8ft wingspan - 3 rebounds? Never mind ROY, keep this up and he won’t even make the All-Rookie team. These are Hasheem Thabeet, Darko Milicic, Dragan Bender, Jahlil Okafor, Michael Olowokandi, Kwame Brown numbers. Don’t do this to us. Don’t make us regret the hype.

Legitimately some of the worst takes I have ever seen. He’s one of the lead shot blockers, is one of the most efficient iso scorers, and is playing without a starting calibre point guard next to him. Ignore everything on offense, pretend he wasn’t making off dribble three and fades from the post, he’s at worst Gobert. The center he plays with might be the worst defensive big I’ve ever actually watched with my own eyes and he’s third in blocks. If Collins wasn’t a sieve, he might get a few more helpside blocks and rebounds. Add in the fact that he is CLEARLY gassed and having to pace himself after his previous season AND adjusting to being the heaviest he’s ever been in his life, it’s pretty easy to imagine that he’d play better give more beneficial circumstances. We BARELY run plays for him. He became the focal point of the best defenses in the world as a 19 year old who barely gets any plays and we’re just expecting him to go out and light it up?

Well, I think this is actually good for Wembanyama. Maybe now people will stop expecting him to have a 25 points triple double every game with an unbeatable defence. A couple of weeks ago people were seriously saying that the kid was going to break Wilt Chamberlain’s records and that he was going to be a top-50 player this season. Better leave the kid alone and let him develop. He may burn out too soon with all the pressure.

Pop is not washed and Wemby’s still a rookie. Y’all are going to be back on the hype train next game after he drops almost 40 and 10. For real don’t know how y’all can watch sports with your emotions all bipolar after each game.

Wemby is not dropping 38 again this season. He’s too much in his head and teams are now wise to his strengths.
