    He was in Alabama…

    The marriage was already going to be legal, no idea why he fled.

    Article claims he was an “expert” on demons and exorcisms though, so I don’t think logic was his strong suit.

    He did get fired tho, because he abandoned his duties and apparently it’s a constant fight to keep demons out of Alabama. So that’s just inexcusable apparently

      I don’t think he was really fleeing anything except social disapproval. Doesn’t sound like there was any evidence of criminal activity, so it was, for lack of a better term, eloping.

      But I’m sure he was grooming her long before any of this happened.

      My comment was more of a silly assumption. It’s likely he fled because he feared ripercussions for doing the marriage, but then returned thinking it wasn’t that bad in his mind.

      Or maybe he just took a long vacation.

      You need parental consent to marry a minor in Alabama, perhaps the parents did not agree to the marriage. According to the article, they didn’t actually get married until after she turned 18.

      I wonder what kind of demand he thinks there is for demon/exorcism experts outside the church.
