These 140-130 games are disgusting to watch. Every team has some scrub who is averaging 25ppg. Basketball used to be contact sport but now every possession is a foul. Make averaging 20ppg mean something again. That is all, thanks for attending my Ted talk

    “Every possession is a foul”

There are literally fewer fouls called now than ever, and if you account for pace, it’s not even close

Hmm now that I think about it should they change the number of fouls allowed?

More possessions, more chances to foul

I want the NBA to allow a more physical defense, but I think hand checking is low on the list of changes I’d want.

Change the way offensive players get called when they inititiate contact and we are a lot better off. The offensive player can get away with a lot right now.

If you call them for the head whips and flops or better yet, just not call anything and let them play, the product would be much better and the defensive players stand a chance.

And this is why I like watching the Heat. They play “ugly” basketball most of the time, as they prioritise keeping the score low. It is not about players today are more talented. It is the rules that allows free flowing offense to cater to casual fans.

Jordan Poole averages 20ppg and he doesn’t even participate in or abide by plays or teamwork. Let that sink in.

Do you think this is the only time in nba history where teams are scoring 140+?

Yep, the NBA was super high octane throughout the 60s and 80s. The 2000s are more of an outlier than people realize.

But the 90s and 2000s are still pretty widely talked about as the best era of basketball. Obviously opinions vary and it’s not consensus, but I bet it’s the majority.

And I would be fine with 140 point games if it didn’t come from 50 free throws per team every game.
