Many teams are currently in their window (Bucks, Celtics, Suns, Sixers, Nuggets, etc). Who are the teams that are still 2-3 years away, but will be championship juggernauts for years to come?

Jokic is 28, Giannis is 28, 2-3 years from now whatever teams they’re on will still probably be top dogs.

I’m not too sure about that. 3 years from now they’ll both be 32 during the playoffs and while most players still have most of their prime athleticism at that age I’m not sure that goes for near 7 footers. While Jokic’s game isn’t based on his athleticism he’ll still have to work harder to maintain his current level

I feel like most star players at that age have become such veterans of the game that their BBIQ more than makes up for their athleticism.

I think they’re both in the Steph/lebron category where they’ll be able to carry the load well into their 30s. Wether or not that is good enough to beat the young cores coming up I don’t know

I think Giannis is going to have to move over to the 5 at some point in his career. People don’t realize how important Brook Lopez is to giannis and how irreplaceable he is. A top 5 rim protector who can also consistently hit the 3? Good luck finding another one of those.

I agree. Brook Lopez is a great rim protector and also a great shooter. Would love to have him on the Mavs…

I was at Celtics-Bucks on Wednesday and it was legitimately stunning that Brook Lopez was the best player for Milwaukee during that game. If basketball had a “Hall of Pretty Good”, he’d be inducted on the first ballot.

I like to think that he’s widely recognized as one of the very best role players in the league and even then I still think he’s underrated. He’s really that good on both ends. Doesn’t get the hype because his blocks don’t go into the 8th row and he’s not pulling up from the logo or throwing down thunderous dunks, but my god is the guy good at basketball.

He’s transformed into the unicorn that every team wants. A good defensive C that can hit 3s.

He’s the Nets all-time leading scorer and should have been DPOY last year. If he puts up a couple more DPOY seasons, he’ll have at least a minor argument for Hall of Fame

He won’t have an argument for HoF lol. He’s a phenomenal role player but someone who’s never made All-NBA should not be in the HoF.

If he had gotten like 3 more all-stars and maybe an All-NBA selection during the years where the center position was shit he could probably make it as a 2nd or 3rd ballot HOFer. I love Brook, but i just don’t see him making it unless the Bucks win 2 more rings with him as their best defender.

I’m biased but Triple J definitely deserved it even though it was close and BroLo had a monster season. Regardless, you can’t really use “should’ve been DPOY” to his resume, and he needs at least one before we start saying “a couple more DPOY seasons”. He’s pretty old so I don’t personally see it happening, but that doesn’t take away from his talent and impact.

Yeah it doesn’t really matter much now, but they were very close in defensive presence. I think the easy tiebreaker should have been games played. Lopez did it for 78, JJJ only 63.

Please don’t think I hate JJJ lol, I’m a Michigan State alum so I’m a big fan

Well pretty much 7 full seasons (9 total but with injuries), averaging between 18 and 20 a game.

That should be about 10.000 points.

My hot take is that the Bucks should trade Lopez while his value is still high, he’s good but old and limits their defensive options since he has to drop.

The Bucks need an identity change, Lillard can’t fight screens like Holiday does and that means Lopez has to come out and their defense falls apart.

Seems like it now but things change quickly. It’s typically rare for a 5+ year window unless there’s a big gamble made somewhere to reset things

I do suspect the Bucks may age out of contention by then (not an indictment on Giannis, just the rest of the roster which is already old)
