This can only be explained as a team being so competent at being incompetent. So in a weird roundabout way they the jets are extremely good at being bad

I mean… what’s Saleh supposed to say/do out there now? I mean, they probably should have gone after a better backup QB as soon as Rodgers went down (or maybe even before he went down), but that’s already been established. It’s already been established that Wilson isn’t the answer, and do you think that Siemian is going to be franchise-changing?

We can criticize the Jets for bad decisions they’ve made in the past, but I don’t see anything wrong with what they’re doing now or what Saleh recently said. Boyle obviously wasn’t great, but he was put in some bad situations. That coast-to-coast pick 6 to end the second half really shouldn’t have been a pick-6. Boyle is not the future for the Jets, but neither is any other healthy QB they have on their roster.

The real crime was not getting a better backup QB in the off-season

We already knew from last year that Zach Wilson is mega ass

He’s probably trying to preserve whatever trade value Wilson has.

Might as well go for draft picks at this point

I mean, what are they supposed to do/say at this point? All of their healthy QBs are booty cheeks, and at this point there’s no one they can go get. He can’t say that though, that’s being a bad HC, so he tries to build up the guys he’s got. There’s no way he doesn’t know they’re all bad.

But they do, Randall Fucking Cobb is no stranger to QB. There’s no way RFC could be any worse than Wilson or Boyle. It’s not like they’re actually using him as a WR anyway.

It’s very possible that: a) Trevor SOMEHOW sucks even more or b) the jets either don’t want trevor to get murdered behind that o-line or are saving him for when boyle does get murdered behind that o-line.

I mean, the Jets are clearly tanking at this point. But why bother signing Siemian (who has been better than either of the Jets healthy QBs his entire career in the NFL) if you’re not going to play him?

Trevor Siemian playing from week 2 on probably has this team in playoff contention. Hell, there are a bunch of QBs, several of which were available, that were all clearly better than Boyle (and Wilson, but especially Boyle) that could’ve kept the season afloat.

Like the Jets just haven’t done anything to try to improve the offense once Rodgers went down. They didn’t go out and try to bring in new OL. They didn’t improve at QB. They just acted like the offense as-is was sufficient, despite all the mounting evidence that it wasn’t.

Unless it was an ownership directive (and even then) I really think the whole org gets canned at the end of the season.

I don’t think the Jets would want to trade capital for Brisset/Lance, and maybe not even Dobbs. But it’s absolutely malpractice to not kick the tires on Wentz

There were a multitude of options available to them, as I’ve laid out, and they opted to do nothing.

It doesn’t matter if you take issue with any given one, with barely any thought I could come up with 6 different ways to add to the QB room and potentially improve there. Two of them were fully within their control (as in, don’t require someone to be willing to trade an asset) and they just didn’t do them. It’s complete malpractice.

Siemian is not the high end backup QB you think he is- we signed him expecting him to be our backup, but he didn’t even make our practice squad out of camp. His struggles were the biggest non-Burrow story of the preseason. You could definitely have looked harder at the available options and made a deadline move, but there’s a good reason he hasn’t started a game.

Yeah there’s a reason these veteran guys are available midseason, and it’s not the entire NFL undervaluing them. If Wentz and Siemian were high end backups, they would’ve secured their backup jobs for the year a long time ago.

It was so predictable too - like you can’t count on getting 4 turnovers or having your running back go for 127 yard on 10 carries. The way they won was obviously unsustainable on offense.

Getting 4 turnovers and only winning by 6 tells you that your offense needs serious help.

Do y‘all think they will keep their jobs? Rodgers will come back next season and they still have their first rounder and could get another good WR. Fixing that O-line will be tough though.

To be fair to Tim Boyle, it wasn’t his fault Holland returned a 99 yard interception return for a TD. Plenty of other players could’ve and should’ve made that tackle…pathetic.

Lol I’m sorry, but I watched the angle from behind Boyle and he threw the pass directly in between three of his receivers and straight to Holland, who barely even had to move to catch it. It literally looked like he was trying to throw it to Holland instead of one of his receivers lol. And despite having read claims that Boyle “has an arm”, the pass barely made it to the goal line. I’ve seen Tony Romo, another undrafted QB who played in the exact same college conference Boyle did, throw a pinpoint TD pass farther than that while falling down. There is only one person to blame for the first Hail Mary pick 6 in NFL history, and it’s Tim Boyle.

I’m sure he dies a little inside every time he has to do it, GM finally gave him a real QB just to lose him after a few plays. You could see the depression in his face the moment Rodgers went down, he knew there was another long season ahead.
