If you’re going to comment some generic answer about why do we always set unreal expectations for players I don’t want to hear it. It’s an NBA sub and I like the hypothetical.
Yes, if all the other players are almost as good as him, but he is just a scootch better
I think he could be with a really strong supporting cast. We’d definitely need a better 4, as much as I’ve enjoyed Toppin’s flashes of brilliance this season
Maybe? I feel like people vastly underestimate how good the best player on a title team usually is. The last six Finals MVPs have been Jokic, Curry, Giannis, LeBron, Kawhi and Kevin Durant.
Almost 100% of the time the best player on a championship team has to be an MVP level player. I’ll go back to 2010 just to have a clean finishing point, but you can go back further too.
2010: Lakers (Kobe)
2011: Mavs (Dirk)
2012 and 2013: Heat (LeBron)
2014: Spurs (Duncan, but tbf this was mostly team ball)
2015: Warriors (Curry)
2016: Cavs (LeBron)
2017 and 2018: Warriors (Curry and KD)
2019: Raptors (Kawhi)
2020: Lakers (LeBron)
2021: Bucks (Giannis)
2022: Warriors (Curry)
2023: Nuggets (Jokic)
Every single one of those teams had a player who had won an MVP, except for the Raptors who had Kawhi, a guy who very well could’ve won an MVP if he had ever played enough in the regular season for it. With that in mind, the only players not on that list already I could see be the #1 on a championship team is Luka, Embiid, and Tatum. In the future I could see a few different people get to that level like Ja, Ant, even Zion if he ever stays healthy long enough to put it all together.
All those teams are also stacked.
If Halliburton was on a stacked team he wouldn’t be the best player on the team realistically.
I think Hali can be in of your max players on a championship team but maybe not the very best player on the team
Yeah that’s why they won a championship.
My new favorite non Lakers player. Yes!
I mean how many PG’s are the best player on a championship team? I’m gonna go with no.
Maybe? It doesn’t seem beyond the realm of possibility.
Duh, this possibilty questions are so pointless
Tyrese Haliburton is overrated as hell, he just plays for a decent team. His 3 pt % is inflated, he has never closed out a game and he’s terrible on defense
team is ass without him, has been his whole time here
I love Hali but a “traditional” point guards typically aren’t the best player on a championship team.
A perfect pairing though would be Embiid or… AD? 👀(don’t mind my flair)
Probably not if we are being honest. He is great. But only one guard has been the best player on a championship team in recent history and that is Steph Curry. Is Haliburton Curry level? Maybe he can reach that level, but I wouldn’t bet on it yet.
Yes but not in the way you may think. Haliburton is like the modern day version of Steve Nash. Nash could potentially lead a team to championship but certainly not as the primary scorer, I see it the same way with Haliburton, he could lead a team to a championship and be the best player on the team but not as its primary scorer.
If the team around him is good enough.
Probably.
I’m erring on the side of yes so that way I don’t get caught in a thread in the future eating my words after Hali leads Indy to a chip 😂
I feel like Tony Parker was the best player on at least one of those Spurs teams that won a championship.
Imagine the team with Haliburton, Adebayo, Mikal Bridges and Laurik Markannen. Everyone esenare role players that fit. Will Haliburton be the best player? I would say you can argue it.
Can this team win championship? Possible
