Was really hoping they could make it work on the Lakers, Russ would have been a great secondary playmaker. 44 mil for a bench player just was too steep, and Bron just wouldn’t play off ball

Well if you play for the Lakers and your name isn’t Austin Reaves you have been shat on by the Laker fanbase over the post championship years.

They changed the rules. He used to leave the circle and walk to half court between shots. He also used to take his time. The rule change required him to remain in the circle between attempts. His percentage dropped after this change.

as a russ fan, reading all these response about how great his rebounding is, after this sub convinced itself for years that his rebounding was forced stat padding , is crazy whiplash

It will be easy to measure if he is stat padding rebounds

        1. Look at % of offensive vs. defensive and compare it to the league average

        2. Dive deeper and look at points off saved possessions and compare it to the league average (not sure where to find this data though)

        Raw numbers don’t say much.

Cooked Luka in the 4th. Attacked the basket and didn’t settle for the open 3s the Mavs gave him. That’s we need from him honestly. Great game.

You’re welcome. According to Dunks and Threes, he has the 3rd highest EPM for all guards on defense.

    Give him his defense credit

He’s playing like a demon. First half was just one outrageous defensive play after another. I love this version of Russ.

Russ came into the league a defensive demon

He historically has excelled at everything except 3pt shooting

His free throw shooting also went to shit I have no idea why

I always thought it was more that he just put on too much muscle working with a new trainer after his mvp season

The muscle disrupts the ROM in his shoulder bc of how much bulk is there and he can’t clear as consistently when shooting from the front

He was a high volume mid 80s guy then went to low 80s 70s now he’s sitting mid 60s somehow

It’s taken a lot of time to happen too, I’ve never seen anything like that in other players

He went from 84% on 11 attempts to 65% on 6 attempts in 2 years

I don’t see how it can be muscle related when he also shorts a lot of shots nowadays. He more often misses short than he does miss wide, so if anything he lacks power.

It’s not like he’s too weak to make those shots. It’s a control and consistency issue.

He came into the league as a defensive prospect. He’s been a terrible defender for the majority of his career.

I think “terrible” is really overstating it. The first season of his I looked at was the 2012-13 season, and his opponents’ shooting percentage was about the same as Lance Stephenson’s, and not much worse than Paul George’s
