I’m a certified member of the Batum Bataillon and this is the first time I’ve seen everything leading up to this game winning oop. Great, random highlight to run across on Saturday night. The French Knight prevails…

The dumbest move the Clippers have done in the past 12 months is letting Nic Batum go*, both for the on-court and the intangible culture stuff. There aren’t many players like him in the league, and he will apparently give everything he has to any team (unless they’re in Charlotte).

*(Lawrence Frank and Ty Lue didn’t want to let Batum go - Ballmer got on the phone with Morey and caved in for Harden. Rare Ballmer L.)

He was great in Charlotte at the beginning. He gave everything until everyone turned on him. The issue was him defaulting into the second option role after a strong season, a big contract (2016 was crazy), and Al Jefferson regressing.

I think the fan reactions had to have worn him down and that’s understandable. Nobody can blame him for taking the money, but the front office set him up to fail. He should’ve been a starter, but the fourth scoring option and secondary playmaker.

It’s like signing Dillon Brooks to a 4 year/$130 million contract and asking him to be your second option. He could be great within his suited role, but that’s not him.

Nico was the inbounder on Dame’s series winner vs Houston and the play was absolutely not for Lillard. It was supposed to be a lob to LaMarcus but Dame said fuck it and ran his own route. Batum took a big risk giving him the ball but the result was historic

I have never seen the Spurs with worse ball movement. Very uncharacteristic of them.

the spurs ball movement in the 00s was atrocious, even for the league standards. 10s spurs was ahead of everyone else and that influenced this perception.

I swear that there was a stretch of years that the Spurs didn’t care how you played ball they were just gonna draft you if you wasn’t from the US

I don’t know why it doesn’t get brought up more but Andre Miller and Brogdon are legit clones of each other on the court
