What are some of your takes so far? Any surprising or disappointing teams this season? Unexpected stars? Future takes for the rest of the season?

Here are some of mine:

  1. The Thunder are the most surprising team so far, and moght be genuine contenders. Chet will win ROTY

  2. If the Rockets make 8 seed and keep up a top 5 defense, Udoka is a lock for COTY

  3. I think the Clippers will combust and might scrape 10 seed with how good the West is

LMK some of yours

Maybe I’m biased but if the Wolves remain a top 3 seed, top 3 defense and the bigs continue to work, I think Chris Finch should be in the convo too. Especially because many people didn’t understand how Rudy and KAT would work and were adamant that the Wolves made one of the dumbest decisions in NBA history trying to pair the two. If Finch proves everyone wrong then I’d think that’s COTY-worthy.

you’re taking a 6 game sample size where the clippers were integrating harden while it practically being their training camp

they’re 4-1 since then btw and have started to figure it out

      they’re 4-1 since then

Two of those games were against the Spurs though. They’re only 3-8 against non-Spurs or Blazers opponents this year. The Dallas win was impressive, but the Clippers still haven’t had a good road win this year, 15 games into the year.

There’s a lot of time left, 15 games is nothing. Let them figure it out and we’ll see what happens

People were pounding the table saying Rudy and KAT would never work and turns out with time and chemistry, they can work

I definitely have some bias but I think the Magic are the bigger surprise than OKC. They have the same record but the Magic have beaten the Lakers,Bucks,Nuggets and Celtics in that stretch. Those teams would be very unsurprising conference finalists.

Also OKC have SGA who was literally All NBA first team so their potential to be great was more predictable.

Yeah, I definitely had low expectations for the magic this year, where as the Thunder had an MVP calibre player and top pick 7’1 sharp shooting rookie coming in at 21 with a year of NBA development. Thunder had expectations.

To me the biggest surprise teams are the magic, the Rockets, and maybe the pacers.

Nuggets without murray celtics were up 15 before porzingis got injured. Were without Jrue.

Let’s see what they do to fully healthy teams.

For teams that I’ve actually been able to watch:

    All-NBA Maxey is for real

The Rockets are my most surprising team but it’s disappointing that JSJ’s summer league is t carrying over

The Pistons are the most disappointing despite Asaur being the most impressive rookie

    The Wolves are Finals contenders

Celtics should be favorites to win the title

Spurs need to take trade calls on KJ and stop letting Branham on the floor

Suggs is finally becoming who I thought he could be and why I was so high on him in that draft

The Pacers are the funnest team to watch since the 16-17 Warriors

The Wizards are actually one of the 30 teams in the NBA

i would argue JSJ’s summer league has somewhat carried over, he has been great this year as the 4th option, 15 ppg on good efficiency with good rebounding and defense

My take is this season is moving too fast. I think COTY will be between Udoka, Mark Diag, and Finch.

Rockets are legit, they will make play-ins and take Grizzlies’ spot from last season.

Hornets starting 5 with Bridges is truly a good playoff caliber team

Didn’t see the rockets being this good, thought they’d be like a 35 win team. They could actually make the playoffs this year

    1. This will be the last year of the Jays being together in Boston

    2. Cade Cunningham will be the first #1 pick to not sign a max extension offered by the team that drafted him

They play so physical and bully ball. I somewhat hope the league takes notice because they’re seriously going to cause some injuries running into people like headless bulls and Cole Anthony jumping on players backs while offensive rebounding. There’s a loose ball foul on virtually every board.

The Suns are a great team when missing 1-2 of their Big 3.

We don’t yet know how good they will be with all three of them.

My take - any Spurs fans complaining about this season and calling for Pop to be fired aren’t true fans and can go support some other team.

You know our motto is pound the rock, right? This is going to take time - years maybe. They’re the youngest team in the league and they are battling hard - I’ve seen every game and this is a team that gives their all. There’s real cameraderie and talent there, just going to need time to figure out what we’ve got and how it fits together. I love watching them despite the blowouts.

We’ve got our generational superstar in the making ( who, despite what you might read here, is everything I hoped for and more ) . Sure, everyone’s getting their hits in on us right now but they’ll regret it when we’re back winning titles.
