Clippers fans should be more concerned with their big 3 or whatever getting beaten by the nuggets at home without jokic and Murray.

Its really a shame. The team was better before the Harden trade. Its not even necessarily Harden’s fault. They just play way too much iso and would rather take fugly shots off the side of the backboard than get someone an open shot.

I’m not going to pretend that the team would have won a ring without the Harden trade, but it was just not smart to mortgage your future for so long.

I haven’t consistently watched him in years but the way it used to go when his free throw percentage started dropping was somehow he was still money in the clutch. Hearing clutch on it I was surprised he missed it.

    Russ FT%

    Years 1-9: .823

    Years 10-12: .718

    Years 13-16: .658

It’s absolutely wild how he could demonstrate elite ability at a skill for so long and then it just vanishes.

the change of rules somehow mentally fucked him up super hard, before between each FT he was allowed to walk from the strip back to the halfcourt line to take a breather. Now rules state you have to stand for the next FT attempt.

This season he is under 60%, he is getting even worse.

It is all those hand injuries. Broke his hand in 2014 and has had multiple hand surgeries since. Dude has had multiple dislocated fingers, torn ligaments, jammed his fingers and played through it all. He fumbles the ball a lot more nowadays as well.

Thank you for providing context. I can’t stand him due to his fan treatment, but he is also an awesome maniac out there. Context is appropriate

This clip is almost kinda sad with that context. At least he made millions upon millions playing a child’s game…I know plenty of people with broken down bodies that got paid a fraction of what he did doing work that goes beyond pure entertainment.

League also screwed over his free throw routine by not allowing him to walk past the three point line anymore. Not saying it’s the reason he’s bad from the line now, but it certainly didn’t help.

I feel bad for him. I’m not a Westbrook fan but appreciated what he did early in his career as a guy with a ton of athleticism. The problem is for guys like him that never really could shoot all that well, the fall off is hard. He’s an emotional player that seems to be a target for a lot of people’s hate and criticism, which he doesn’t seem to take well, but by many accounts is a good dude off the court.

Honestly his bigger problem is really just mental. I mean, yeah, if he ever could have developed a reliable jump shot that would have helped, but some players just never become good shooters, no matter how much they work on it. His problem is not terribly unique, he’s just a former star who doesn’t seem to be able to adjust his mindset to playing like a role player.

These guys make it to the NBA because of their supreme confidence in their ability, and what Westbrook needs most right now is to honestly acknowledge his limitations and just accept what he can and can’t do. If he simply dedicated himself to being someone who focused mostly on incredibly tough defense and rebounding, he’d still be very valuable out there. But instead he still thinks he’s the guy that won the MVP and can contribute most by scoring and handling the ball a lot.
