Somehow I feel like 1 pick in 2029 and D’Angelo Russell is not going to get Masai to give up OG.

For sure. I definitely was throwing it out there as a comparison to Zach vs a reality. LA has an odd looming timeline too. This version probably has a 2-3 year expiration date (Bron retires to Vegas). Making a move now for anyone who is going to be getting paid, or will want to be paid, max/near-max money for 4-5 years doesn’t make sense.

Toronto wouldn’t trade OG for Giannis at this point and then he will walk in FA for nothing

Yeah, if I’m the Lakers, I’m trying to sell Toronto on an OG for DLo plus stuff package. They’re not as depleted of picks as they were a couple years ago. Really depends on how serious the Raptors are about holding onto OG though

OG is the Raptors’ defensive anchor. The only way Masai would sacrifice our defence is for a player with Lillard’s offensive talent. We already have our own version of Dlo in Gary Trent Jr.

I don’t think the Lakers would win a bidding war for OG. The Grizzlies and Pelicans reportedly offered 3 1sts for OG last trade deadline.

The post-championship bubble season was worthwhile. Nobody is going to blow up a 60 win quality team and arguably there was a pivot in place to a Pascal/Fred/OG led team but it didn’t hit high enough of an offensive upside.

After that, he picked Barnes but aside from that it’s been a slow erosion and a net outflow of draft picks just to be mid.

I think 2/3 of those first from a Memphis ended up being in the late 20’s

So? We are talking about a player on an expiring contract. 3 1sts is still 3 1sts. They aren’t getting 3 lotto picks for OG.

Or went in the Marcus Smart trade. Memphis doesn’t have as many picks to throw around and it seems Masai wasn’t coveting Zaire.

          If true Masai is crazy

If OG is as good as people say he is ten those first round picks would be worthless. In hindsight the Grizzlies seem like good picks but no one could have reasonably predicted them to be a lottery team with Morant.

OG averages as much a DLo and is the best perimeter defender in the league… Bum deal for the Raptors.

Y’all have impossible expectations. OG is on an expiring contract. He could walk for nothing. There’s no chance the Raptors are getting a KD package like y’all expect.

Masai loves OG. I really don’t see them moving OG considering he works better with the Scottie timeline than someone like Siakam and is one of the only decent 3 pt shooters we have had in years

Toronto will say they’re selling, make the selling price ridiculous, do nothing and eventually lose the player in free agency

Masai kinda getting stubborn though and not dealing players at ideal times.

They went into this season on seeing how OG does before deciding on contract talks when it’s been reported he wants to most he can get in FA (more than what they Raps can pay) and wants a bigger role on offense.

We didn’t get anything in return for losing both Lowry and FVV.

I think he’ll deal one of or both OG & Siakam for pieces to build around Barnes.

Precious played well for like a month and is just a bench player currently.

Waited so long for a deal and his destinations dwindled to where the return was a promising project rather than ready contributor for an Allstar.

We have his bird rights, so no team can outbid us on OG (or Siakam). The real issue is that he’s a UFA and can choose to sign with any team he wants. Masai should have traded Siakam/OG when they still had years left on their contracts and now we’ll have to overpay for both (not so bad in OG’s case) to retain them.

See which way Toronto wants to go? I think they want to go with more than almost nothing that the lakers have to offer. There’s teams that would offer 2-3 frp and young talent for him.
