Digging into the jet conspiracy, Duffy told his followers “the plane’s owner stated that radar services with air traffic control (ATC) were ended by mutual agreement,” clarifying that “private pilots can voluntarily request to cancel radar services, and that ATC may approve.”
That itself isn’t really all that strange, but it was turned turned back on around 2:30 when they left Page Arizona. So why request it end right as you’re about to reach your destination, then turn it back on?
It also seems to conflict with what Kash Patel said last week.
So was it just a loss of signal? If so why did they request FAA cancel radar services?
I just have a basic pilots license (PPL) but a lot of rural airports it’s normal to cancel radar services (IFR / flight following) when you have the airport in sight because there’s no tower and you’re making location callouts on the airport frequency in case there’s traffic nearby. ATC can and will ask to let you go without if they’re busy or whatever as well.
Especially in mountainous areas radar/transponder coverage can be pretty spotty unless you’re pretty high up or near a larger airport.

Radar still tracks them if they cancel flight following, it just means ATC doesn’t have to provide them with traffic advisories or other guidance. Also there are loads of ADSB trackers (how flight aware works) that they would have to shut their transponder off to disable, which is not what sounds like happened.
Who knows? Weird shit happens every day.
If they were trying to do a sneaky, they would have just left it off the whole time.
Going on the assumption that these folks are competent. Just being funny, I agree that it’s probably nothing and that these officials are so out of their depth, they can’t properly explain anything.
