Legislators should get the exact same security measures that schoolchildren get. And I do mean the exact same.

No. They can pay for that from all the stocks they own.
Counter point… Progressive reps like AOC and Max Frost are not wealthy and maybe could benefit from better security
The rise in political violence is caused by the right. If democrats really cared they would’ve stopped this before it got to this point. Too many of them didn’t want to lose their positions of power and let the GOP get away with whatever they want to not lose power.
This is a public servant position, if you want security don’t run for office. They work for us, not the other way around.
But then there’s a paradox of only people who are independently wealthy can then afford to be politicians with the security and housing demands they face. If we want more working class people to run for office, they need some help. How about we just ban politicians and their families from owning individual stocks?
Their respective parties can pay for their security. If school children are being forced to confront the terrible realities of gun violence, then their representatives can do the same.
Maybe a few of them can get shot every couple of months just so they can learn a bit of empathy.
Yeah fuck these lawmakers they can pay out of pocket for protection. And even then they don’t deserve it. YOUR PUBLIC Servants your address should be made public and we should be allowed to protest at your door steps. Don’t like it do what MTG is doing and quit.
