    Facebook lost a national court case in The Netherlands last year, which means that they show you a (not very) different version if you access from a Dutch ip adress. If TikTok has to change it’s design to something that is less optimal for them, they will likely only show that design to users who’s ip adress is in the EU. I imagine a world where everybody vpns into the EU because their own country doesn’t protect them against the Big Tech cultures.

      I think you are right with your prediction for region locking, but on VPNs I think you would see the oposite effect. In this timeline I think its far more likely people in the EU will run VPNs to escape their safer algorithm and keep getting that sweet sweet dopamine from the OG algorithm.
