I feel like Jokic, Giannas, and Luka have destroyed stats for me. Getting 36/16/9 is something I don’t even bat and eye at, I just go oh, they had a good game. NOT EVEN A GREAT GAME. Just a good game lmao. I remember a time that wasn’t too long ago, I’m talking like 2015 where 25/6/6 was a pretty insane stat that people were like damn. I really feel like stats stopped becoming so shocking when Harden and Russ were just getting 30 point triple doubles every night and Russ legit averaged a triple double for like 3 seasons or whatever. Before that nobody had averaged a triple double since Oscar Robertson in 1961!

Does anyone else feel this way? I don’t even know what is good anymore honestly or when I should be impressed.

    NBA isn’t an attractive game to me anymore - way too many ill-advised “heat-checks” and taking turns on offense. I’d much rather watch Euro-ball at this point.

      For the offensive load he carries I don’t think 3.7 TOVs is that egregious. Plus Chris Paul has taken a lot of the playmaking duties off his shoulders hence why his assists are down.

    It needs to be something out of the ordinary for me to care at this point. Someone getting 20 boards still registers. Or throwing up a 50 piece. But yeah the big triple double kind of falls flat.

      40 points has fallen pretty flat for me, personally. Even when Lavine put up 50 against the Pistons I was like “oh cool” but it didn’t blow me away. Something like 20 rebounds or 15 assists or 8 blocks is where I get interested.

    It’s all relative. There are far more possessions in games now than there were in the 90s or early 00s. More shots, especially with so many 3s going up, drives rebound totals. 3s are also inflating scoring numbers.

    There was a time when it was normal to have 10 or so total players in the league averaging over 20ppg. 25 is the new 20.

    Ever since peak helio-Harden and MVP Russ, nothing surprises me. There is not a single offensive statistical output that would genuinely shock me besides 60-50-90.

    The only other thing that would genuinely blow my mind statistically is someone averaging 3 steals AND 3 blocks a game for a season. 2+2 is already extremely rare and impressive. 3+3 would be goat defender stocks output. Maybe that detroit rookie could do it someday, or possibly even Wemby.

      I don’t think players really see their stock numbers increase… Ausar seems to move really well and have great instincts, but next year that’ll be on the scouting report and guys will be more hesitant to take tough shots over him, which will in turn drive his block numbers down a little bit

      I think the recipe for a guy to breakout is either being new to the league or having their expectations shifted dramatically (way new scheme or way more minutes)

      3+3 would be my favorite player if it’s not a center

    Product of modern NBA giving offense massive advantages over defense. Not even on some boomer shit but it really can’t be understated just how large of an effect the lack of calls on carrying, traveling, and moving screens. And don’t even get me started on how soft defensive foul calls are these days.

    The NBA wants to prioritize offense because that’s what casuals like to see but when everyone in the NBA is an offensive beast putting up 25-30+ every game it just all regresses to the mean.

    I think nothing of a player scoring 25. Just sounds like a super average game to me but I bet the average player rarely, if ever, scores 25 in a game
