  • The internet has fostered a culture of hate, and not just in politics. Angry and instigating comments get more engagement, the algorithm boosts, rinse and repeat.

    You see it here like anywhere else – “lowlights” are posted just as much if not more than highlights, yhe stories are more often about who lost/failed/“is washed” than who won, etc. All off-season there were so many posts on the front page polling about who’s overrated, who’s a bust, who actually sucks, etc. Just hunting negativity as a starting point, which shouldn’t make sense for anybody who enjoys the game.

    I just came from the post about Harden having a great night and one of the top comments was about PJ Tucker having a terrible +/-. People are just consumed with hate, as more and more it’s the only way they know how to communicate and with the distance of online interaction the impact of their behavior isn’t what a normal person would react with to negativity, but more negativity that gets boosted.
