British Columbia@lemmy.ca•New Westminster aims to end traffic-related deaths and serious injuries
2·1 个月前We have a long way to go to make active transportation safer and easier but I am encouraged when I read things like this.
I agree. It is really hard to justify why a person might need 3 or more homes.

British Columbia@lemmy.ca•New post-secondary campus named after John Horgan opens on Vancouver Island
3·3 个月前Honestly, government buildings should not be named after people. Too many places and buildings around BC were named after people we later recognized had done unfavourable things in their lives.

3·6 个月前The article says they are fundraising but doesn’t give a link. I guess they aren’t fundraising from the public? Does anyone have more info?

11·9 个月前I get prioritizing over tourists, but help me understand, why should island residents get a priority over residents of the Lower Mainland? Unless an island resident is coming for medical treatment they can’t get on the island?
I can’t imagine a 50% reduction to bus service. I am guessing a solution is still being negotiated.

I am very familiar with this Heriarchy of Controls for my work designing the power system. We care deeply about public and worker safety. And then traffic engineers throw it out the window when they design our roads? It is very frustrating to see. Motonormativity at work.
I am also a subscriber. While some of the produce still comes from the US, I think it reduces our dependence by reducing waste. It is cheaper than the super market but still more expensive than the local grocers here in Vancouver.
This is a great explanation. I do hope someone picks this up because it provided a lot of value to the community.
For me, the biggest loss is the hardened Firefox-derived browser, Mull. Is Fennec with some custom settings the next best option? I know Vanadium is a good option but based on Chromium.
It’s nearing the end of the year and I am on a better financial situation than I anticipated.
I am planning to donate to VisionZero and Movement because I am familiar with their missions and want to improve walking/cycling/bussing conditions in our region.
I don’t know much about organizations addressing homelessness and ppverty and I would like to donate to groups addressing these challenges as well.
I also really enjoy this one. However, it contains no tea leaves so not a ‘true’ tea. ‘Tisane’ or ‘herbal infusion’ are the more precise terms.
My film recommendation: The Florida Project. It follows a young girl and her single mother struggling to make it in Kissiimee, Florida (where Disney World is). Most of us would think living beside Disney World would be amazing but there is a darker underside of poverty. I have heard the film described as ‘poverty porn’ but I thought it was a fair depiction.
I love slice of life films and this is one of my favourites.

Text books are often published separately in Southeast Asia and sold for much cheaper than in the west. They are often paper back and printed on thinner paper but the content is the same. Check out Abebooks or BookFinder.com
