Carmelo was a better rookie than Lebron tho, and was robbed by the hype-machine press for RotY.

I always knew Pop had no idea how to coach big men. /s
Lol, Imma guess that they were probably 4-33 in the games before the trade too.
Steals and blocks are OK, but not enough is done, generally speaking, by websites in highlighting the importance of individual defense.
Maybe add something that reveals how well a player is at guarding his man . For instance, when Player X is the primary defender, what is the FG% of the player he is guarding during those sequences? What is his “opponent’s FG%” for the game? For the season?
How often is Player X involved in opponent turnovers (like guarding a man who gets called for traveling)?
Stuff like that.
I can’t give you full credit, OP. It seems that you and the other posters who responded were discussing if Maxey can reach Harden’s 2021 level of play, not just simply pass him up.
Yes, Maxey improved in two years, but not THAT much. Harden’s regression since then plays just as much of a role in the upside switch between the two as any other factor. I mean, by the '01/'02 season, Ray Allen was a better player than Jordan, so it happens.
