I just had a conversation where someone was convinced that Scottie Pippen was better than Dame Lillard and I was not so easily convinced. How do you guys feel? I feel like yes pippen was a better 2 way player, but dame was significantly better offensively and was the main option on his team. I’ve seen pippen without jordan… and…

There’s a right answer and I don’t have to specify for everyone to know which I mean. That might say it all?

Pippen easily. The guy won 6 titles as one of the best all-around players in the league. Kawhi vs Pippen is a much more interesting comparison

Pippen was a baller. The Bulls don’t win 6 chips without him. People who consider him to be Jordan’s sidekick don’t realize that almost every other player would have also been second fiddle to Jordan.

Bulls don’t win 6 rings without him, but the Bulls also would have won 6 rings if you give MJ any other 90s all star instead of Pippen.

If you swap Pippen in Chicago with Alonzo Mourning in Charlotte for example. The Bulls probably still win 6 chips and the Pippen-led Hornets never make it out of the first round.

Literally every player ever would’ve been second fiddle to Jordan

Every team in the history of the NBA would get better by replacing Dame with Scottie. It’s a no brainer.

Dame is perpetually the most underrated superstar I’ve ever seen. These comments man…

I mean, Scottie was a mvp candidate without MJ 🤷‍♂️. Took his team to the ECF and almost won it. All star type scorer with HoF lvl defense. It’s Scottie, easily

He lost in game 7 of the 2nd round

Why is this “almost won the ECF” misinfo getting upvoted?

Might as well say Embiid almost lead his team to the Finals last year

My bad, mixed up his Portland year and that year. Regardless, he was a mvp candidate that year without Jordan.

There is always gonna be guys that can put the ball in the basket. Pippen gives u all the things u can’t just find. He could do a little bit of everything and a very good level. Pippen is like the prototype for a second best player.

I might be biased because he was still playing when I first started watching basketball, but I’m going to go with Scottie Pippen. I really enjoyed watching him play with Jordan and Dennis Rodman.

I watched every single Bulls game of both 3 peats growing up and I don’t think it’s so clear cut. I honestly think Dame takes it one on one. Pip might make his team better overall, but I probably give it to Dame one on one. And I love Pippen and hate Lilliard.

Pippen might be the best perimeter defender in league history though. And there’s zero chance Dame is stopping Pippen from driving to the basket and dunking.

Dame’s points are replaceable, but the intangibles and win-first mentality that Scottie brought was irreplaceable. Run the offense, anchor the defense, guard the toughest player, step up defensively and change the game by knowing what the opponent was doing. Step up rebounding. Make shots when MJ was in a rut. He affected the game and the Bulls success in so many ways.
