Femboys are boys who dress, act, and/or look feminine.

Trans girls are girls who were assigned male at birth and identify as girls.

I hope this clears up any misconceptions on the subject.

I don’t think Astolfo is a femboy cause they never refer to themselves as a boy and the japanese games use neutral pronouns. Big non-binary energy.

I thought there was a scene where he acknowledges he was a boy and just wears the clothes he wants?

Grand Order uses they/them and their gender is [Redacted] in the stats.

        Things change, eggs crack, etc

        Plus they’re not real

That’s not an uncommon thing for that kinda archetype. There is a reason there was another word for it back in the day.

Right, soooo that would make him a make following that archetype which was my original question. I’m not a fate expert but I know for example Ferris/Felix is much closer to trans in the source material than they are in the anime

Yes astolfo is probably a man. Especially considering the main characterization of him is being troll-y, he uses masculine pronouns (boku) and Japan knows trans people exist and will actually put them into stories, unlike what the other guy seems to think. Oh and he’s confirmed as a man in other material, apparently.

One of these is someone being forced to dress as the opposite gender because their mom is a nutcase btw.

I’m a gender fluid trans girl except on Femboy Friday when I’m a femboy. My pronouns depend on the day of the week, but I always am okay with she/her.

Sorry if I offended anyone. I was actually very upset when I posted this because someone had been arguing that I’m an egg and trans girl in denial and that femboys are just trans girls who haven’t gotten HRT and bottom surgery.

They said a lot more evil shit that I don’t want to repeat. So I felt the need to make this post here and on !femboy@lemmy.blahaj.zone and I was kind of still upset when I came up with the title.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with an 🥚joke every now and then, but you shouldn’t argue with someone about their gender! That’s a very unsilly thing to do D:

A single egg joke now and then, when it’s very clear it’s a joke, might be okay as like an in-joke, but if everyone says it every so often then OP’s gonna see that joke from someone constantly.

If you hear an ironic joke too often, it starts to lose its irony, and in this case that would probably lead to feelings of invalidation. So don’t make the joke towards people you don’t know.

sounds pretty shitty to only let people qualify as trans when they’ve actually transitioned…

That’s not the message or takeaway from this post, it is that boys can be feminine without being trans.

right but then why define being trans as having transitioned? why not just say
“femboys are boys who dress, act, and/or look feminine. Trans girls are girls who were assigned male at birth and identify as female”

Transition can refer to a lot of different things, not just medical transition. if you start to ask others to call you by different pronouns for example that’s a form of social transition even if you’ve only chosen to come out to a few people

edit: To clarify I’m not saying you need to have even done that step to be valid as a trans person, it’s just likely that no one would know you’re trans unless you’ve at least taken that step

the disagreement is that i think people don’t need to transition to be trans, they just need to identify as a different gender than they were assigned at birth.

i’m trans and i don’t disagree, i’m just confused how you’re getting “pre transition trans girls are femboys” (a statement that i agree is wrong and problematic) out of this meme. people who identify as boys but present femme aren’t trans girls either way, one layer of this meme is about them getting lost in the noise about trans women.

Ruka is probably my favorite trans character in media for the fact she tried to alter time to “become a girl”. Someone just needed to let her know about the magic of estrogen

at the same time, I hate that so much of her motivation seems to be “I wanna date the MC and the MC is straight, so I must become a girl.”

Steins;Gate is honestly so good I often forget it’s basically a harem VN. It’s not like I should be that surprised one of the girls is written that way, but I wish the Ruka arc focused more on how she felt about her own self and identity, rather than her infatuation with the MC.

It’s possible I guess, maybe she also just didn’t want to wait for changes that would never be as good as if it had always been (yesterday is way faster than 2-3 years after all), and also when you change history, you change all people’s memories too.
